'Pluribus' Season One Ending Explained

From the twist at the start of the very first episode, I have been obsessed with Pluribus. This wasn't a violent takeover; rather, a biological shift occurred where individuals lost their personal identities to become part of a global hive mind.And they want to convert the people who are left, who seemingly have been able to resist the hive. The Others are incapable of violence, feel no grief, and spend their days maintaining the planet. They also eat all the dead bodies of humans that happen throughout the normal course of the day....
