Panasonic LUMIX S5 Can Now Record 5.9K ProRes RAW

Atomos enables ProRes RAW recording on the Panasonic LUMIX S5. Earlier this month Panasonic teased up-coming updates for its full-frame S series mirrorless cameras, including the popular S1H, with improved autofocus performance, additional recording formats, and higher bit-depth options. One of the standouts was that the LUMIX S5 would receive support for ProRes RAW via Atomos. Today, the companies have delivered on that promise, as the S5 supports full-frame 5.9K recording up to 30p, 4K at 60p, and 3.5K anamorphic at 50p when paired with the Ninja V recorder. Both ProRes RAW and ProRes RAW HQ are supported. This is great news for video shooters looking to take advantage of RAW workflows. With ProRes RAW being fully supported by Avid, Premiere Pro, and Final Cut, along with apps like ASSIMILATE SCRATCH, it's becoming the go-to format for content creators who want to push the latitude of the camera's sensor. The LUMIX S5 joins 20+ cameras that are now supported by ProRes RAW via Atomos, and with a price-point under $2,000, it's turning into one of our favorite under-the-radar cameras. Read More...
