At NAB 2023, OSEE announced a new 5-inch on-camera HDMI monitor called Lilmon 5. This 5.5” monitor has a resolution of 1920×1080, a maximum brightness of 1000 nits, and a page-based software called Swift OS. It will soon be available for $189. Chinese manufacturer OSEE is well known for producing feature-rich yet affordable monitors. Their lineup includes the extremely bright G7 and T7 field monitors as well as the Megamon 15 production monitor (our review here), just to name a few. On the show floor at NAB 2023, we stopped by the company’s booth to meet Zoe Wang – Marketing Manager at OSEE – who walked us through the main features of their upcoming Lilmon 5. Source: CineD OSEE Lilmon 5 – overview As the name suggests, the OSEE Lilmon 5 is a little entry-level monitor that is mainly designed for use with compact mirrorless cameras. The device features a 5.5” touchscreen IPS display with a resolution of 1920×1080, a contrast ratio of 1200:1, and a maximum brightness of 1000 nits. In my experience, 1000 nits are often not enough to label a monitor as “daylight-viewable”, so I have to disagree with OSEE on this point. OSEE Lilmon 5. Source: CineD The Lilmon 5 is an HDMI-only monitor. It has single HDMI in/out connectors and supports 4K video signals. Of course, the video input gets downscaled to fit the 1080p resolution panel.
