Nikon really wants you to know that a new flagship mirrorless camera is coming soon later this year

In recent interviews at CP+ and with Dpreview, Nikon really wanted everyone to know that a new flagship mirrorless camera (see rumored specifications) is coming later this year – something I have been reporting since 2019 and was confirmed by Nikon on several other occasions in the past. Here are a few quotes: “A flagship Nikon Z-series mirrorless camera can be expected within the year, and is being developed with the goal of surpassing the D6. It will respond to the advanced needs of professionals. The upcoming model will debut a newly developed high-resolution stacked CMOS sensor. While this camera will be a major technological leap for still photographers of a wide variety of genres, our engineers are considering powerful video features such as 8K that respond to the needs of all kinds of content creators and professionals.” (dpreview) “Other manufacturers are developing dedicated video machines, but are there any plans for Nikon to release such equipment? Can’t talk about future product roadmaps or unannounced products As a person in charge of video, I have a desire to make it, but Nikon does not have a lineup of cinema cameras like other companies, and although I still sell single-lens reflex cameras, I do it with one mirrorless camera. I think that is a strength in a sense, and the first thing I was able to put out HDMI RAW was because there is no cinema camera line in the company, so I will improve the video function of the mirrorless camera...
