In recent interviews at CP+ and with Dpreview, Nikon really wanted everyone to know that a new flagship mirrorless camera with a high-resolution stacked sensor (see rumored specifications) is coming later this year. The goal of the new model is to surpass the D6. All this is nothing new for the regular NikonRumors reader – I have been reporting about the new Nikon flagship mirrorless camera since 2019 and even Nikon confirmed it on several occasions in the past. Here are a few quotes from the interview: “A flagship Nikon Z-series mirrorless camera can be expected within the year, and is being developed with the goal of surpassing the D6. It will respond to the advanced needs of professionals. The upcoming model will debut a newly developed high-resolution stacked CMOS sensor.
