The Nikon D780 adds cube format to its N-Log compatibility. Companies seem to be trending towards more mirrorless offerings, but DSLRs are alive and kicking thanks to the full-frame Nikon D780 and other flavors on the market. As an upgrade to its entry-level D750, the 24.5MP camera is capable of recording 4K UHD up to 30p with no crop and full HD up to 120p. The D780 also features a 273-point phase-detection AF system in Live View, a tilting touchscreen, built-in timecode, ISO expandable to 204,800, and outputs 10-bit video via HDMI. Video tools, including zebra striping and focus peaking, are also available on the DSLR. Previously, the D780 supported 10-bit output with N-Log or HDR (Hybrid Log-Gamma), and now, the Nikon D780 adds to its functionality with an N-Log compatible cube format. N-Log is a 3D lookup table for color grading footage shot in N-Log gamma. It's compatible with the Rec. 709 color space and can be used with Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Final Cut Pro X, and Blackmagic Design's DaVinci Resolve. Read More...
