Here it is. The new ALEXA 35. The replacement for the decade old original film industry work horse, ARRI ALEXA. Expected to be announced on May 31st, the new camera is much smaller and resembles an ALEXA MINI but with brand new 4.6K sensor. The new ALEXA is also confirmed to have a build in ND filter wheel. The new sensor isn’t as fast as some of the other options on the market but the interesting part will be the overall image quality, with 17 stops dynamic range promised. The ALEXA 35 will be capable of 4K at 120fps (in 16:9) but only up to 75fps in 4.6K 16:9 and 4.6K open gate mode. There’s some speculation around the price, between 45K and 70K, maximum 90K for a full ready to shoot kit. Back battery mount is 24v B-Mount.
