Middle Control 3 Pro Brings Sony Camera Control to Blackmagic ATEM Switchers

Middle Things has released Middle Control 3 Pro, a Mac OS application that enables Sony camera control through Blackmagic Design ATEM switchers. The software acts as a bridge between ATEM’s camera control protocol and Sony’s network-based control system, allowing operators to adjust iris, ISO, focus, zoom, white balance, and color correction parameters directly from ATEM software or hardware control panels. For live production professionals running mixed camera setups, this development addresses a longstanding workflow limitation. ATEM’s camera control was designed exclusively for Blackmagic cameras, leaving Sony shooters without unified control options. Middle Control 3 Pro changes that equation by translating ATEM camera control commands into a format Sony cameras can process over IP networks. How the Sony/ATEM link works The integration requires placing Sony cameras on the same IP network as the ATEM switcher and the Mac running Middle Control. The software continuously monitors ATEM camera control commands and converts them in real time to Sony’s proprietary control protocol, sending adjustments over Wi-Fi or wired Ethernet depending on the camera model. Middle Control 3 Pro even allows for remote controlling of the Sony menus from the control room.
