Mavis has introduced advanced NDI support to their iPhone and iPad Camera app, bringing HX3-certified streaming and expanded workflow options to mobile devices. With this update, the app now supports broadcast-quality video transmission, remote collaboration, and direct integration with popular cloud-based services. Let’s take a closer look. We became acquainted with the Mavis app for iOS back in April at NAB 2025, when we spoke with Patrick Holroyd of Mavis and learned all things app-related. A few months later, the company offered support for the Atomos Ninja phone accessory for iPhone-based workflows, which we discussed in our Focus Check podcast. Now, with NDI integration, the app continues to expand its role as a versatile tool for professional and mobile production workflows. NDI on iOS + audio The app can now send and receive NDI streams, supporting both Full NDI and the more bandwidth-efficient NDI HX3, while using codecs like H.264, HEVC, and 10-bit HEVC to maintain high image quality with minimal latency, according to the company. The update also brings audio flexibility, with support for up to 8 audio channels via NDI. Each channel can be recorded individually with timecode tracks, which should make post-production alignment simpler and more precise.
