The new standard zoom maintains a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout its 28-70mm focal range, making it suitable for both stills and video work. The optical construction features 16 elements arranged in 12 groups, with three elements incorporating aspherical surfaces on both sides to enhance image quality and reduce aberrations.
