Laowa Wide Angle Zero-D Cine Lenses Now Available in Canon RF Mount

Laowa has just released three of its wide-angle close-to-zero distortion – also called Zero-D – Cine lenses in Canon RF lens mount: the Laowa 9mm T2.9 Zero-D, Laowa 15mm T2.1 Zero-D, and Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D. These lenses are compatible with the Red Komodo, Canon EOS R5 / R6, and the latest Canon EOS C70. Laowa Wide Angle Zero-D Lenses All the new Laowa 9mm T2.9 Zero-D, Laowa 15mm T2.1 Zero-D, and Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D cine lenses are entirely made out of metal. They all have standard 0.8 mod gears on both aperture and focus ring. The “Zero-D” in the name of these lenses means that they are close to being distortion-free, according to Laowa. Image credit: Laowa However, none of these lenses are new. Indeed, if you missed it, we already reported earlier this year about the 9mm T2.9 Zero-D lens here that covers APS-C sensors. In a nutshell, this 9mm lens gives you an FoV of around 113°, it has a minimum focus distance of 12mm (from the sensor), a focus throw of 180°, and it has a 55mm front filter thread. The Laowa 12mm T2.9 Zero-D started shipping back in January this year. This lens gives you a 122 degrees field of view, it covers full-frame/Vista Vision sensors, it has a focus throw of 270° and a minimum focusing distance of 7″.
