We were at the Inovativ booth during NAB 2024 and talked with Patrick Blewett, the company’s founder and CEO, who showed us their motorized upgrade for the Apollo workstation, which we had the chance to see last year. Let’s see what Pat told us! INOVATIV is a Californian company specializing in manufacturing carts and mobile workstations for the film industry. During NAB 2024, they introduced the motorized upgrade for their Apollo workstation, whose prototype version we had the chance to test during NAB 2023 (see the review here). Now, they have fully developed it with some adjustments and improvements. A workhorse for heavy payloads The main feature that stands out is the integration of hydraulic brakes into the motorized wheels, and the first potential users that come to mind for the INOVATIV Apollo motorized version are DITs, lighting technicians, or anybody with heavy rack-mounted stuff. Patrick provided us with a demonstration that you can see in the video with a payload of 400 lbs/181.4 kg. The system gives users complete control of the cart when going up the ramp with the motorized option, and we can also control the weight with the brakes when coming down. There is also an emergency braking feature, and the system can be one-handedly controlled in both applications via a feathered throttle that works smoothly at any speed without any abrupt movement.
