Accessory and filter manufacturer H&Y Filter have launched a new product line via Kickstarter. The EVO-series filter systems cleverly combine thread and magnetic mounting options for each filter, providing a choice of either a fast-paced magnetic workflow or a secured thread-based workflow. We’ve seen magnetic filters and we’ve seen threaded filters. Each method has its own strengths and weaknesses. While magnetic filter systems offer snappy filter changes, they lack the utter security of screwed-in metal filters. Another unwelcome side effect originates from the slightly longer distance between the filter and the lens. Since the magnetic adapter takes up some space, filters are further away from the front element. Wide lenses that gather light coming from extreme angles might suffer from this issue, resulting in degraded image quality, vignetting, or other optical aberrations. What’s in the EVO-series Video Kit The EVO-series Video Kit will include various filters like ND 3-1000+CPL, Short 4X cross, Black Mist 1/4, and white Mist 1/4. A magnetic lens adapter, lens cap, and a storage bag are also included, and during the Kickstarter campaign, H&Y will throw in an additional REVORING to easily adapt the kit to each of your lenses.
