Godox is introducing a massive, full-color COB light, the Godox KNOWLED MG4KR, that cranks out an impressive amount of illumination. The fixture is claimed to produce 225,100 lux @ 3 m when used with the MGR20, their 20° reflector. This puts it in the same class as a 4K HMI fixture but with the added benefits of delivering 91% Rec.2020 coverage and IP65-rated weather resistance. You can use these lights to simulate sunlight and not worry if it is raining outside. Let’s see what these lights are all about and what productions might use them. Godox is on a roll lately, putting out some very interesting lighting fixtures. The Shenzhen-based company started out making photography flashes, but over the past few years, they have become known for affordable LED video lighting. They offer filmmakers an attractive alternative to similar lights from Aputure, Nanlite, Litepanels, and even Arri (in some respects).
