Canon EOS C50 vs Sony FX3: Which Camera Wins – And Does It Matter?

The jargon of “the XXX killer” and its variants has become synonymous with the clickbait titles and reviews of our time (traditionally on all caps with few exclamation marks on top). It encapsulates the over-dramatization of mild upgrades and the false sense of obsolescence – as if your older camera will suddenly stop delivering the same great footage once a newer model is announced. But if you’ve seen Canon’s teaser from last week, you probably got this very message – ‘We’re coming for the FX3’. Now that the camera has officially been announced, we can see that Canon wasn’t only going for the FX3, but for the entire line of compact FX cameras, creating a compact beast of its own. The new Canon EOS C50 seems to blend some EOS C80 capabilities with the EOS R50 V design language. A closer look at both design and features will show that in many cases, the new EOS C50 has upped its game, surpassing both its stablemates.
