Chinese lens manufacturer BLAZAR has just announced a new wide-angle 1.5x full-frame anamorphic lens: the Remus 33mm T1.6. This lens will be available in either PL or Canon EF mount, with user-interchangeable lens mounts and two different lens flare options: Amber or Blue. This additional lens will be showcased during NAB 2024, so let’s take a closer look at it and what we know so far! BLAZAR released the Remus series of 1.5x full-frame anamorphic lenses in December 2023 with three focal lengths: 45mm, 65mm, and 100mm. These compact lenses started shipping in January 2024. Along with the recent announcement of their first Super35 BLAZAR Remus 35mm anamorphic lens, the company also teased a new full-frame wide-angle lens: the 33mm T1.6 1.5x anamorphic. My colleague Nino is currently reviewing the 45mm, 65mm, and 100mm trio of lenses, and while he’s happily surprised by their image and character, he often feels that a piece was missing in the equation.
