When it comes to capturing high-resolution video, storage is your friend. Blackmagic has released Camera Setup 7.2, a new firmware update that improves the URSA Mini Pro 12K, URSA viewfinders, and adds new features to RAW 2.0 Beta 4. The highlight of the software release is the URSA Mini Pro 12K gaining the ability to record video to the URSA Mini Recorder. The Mini Recorder is a high-capacity SSD recorder that allows longer record times. It supports 2.5" SSDs including U.2 NVMe disks. Adding it to the camera is easy, as it is attached between the back of the camera and the battery and is controlled by USB-C. This is a welcome addition, since recording 12K or even 4K can start chewing into your storage quickly. SSDs are a great alternative to recording media as they provide plenty of storage without costing as much as higher-capacity CFexpress cards. The update also improves the Gen 5 color science in both the URSA Viewfinder and URSA Studio Viewfinder so colors will be more accurate when viewing the images.
