A new Atomos monitor-recorder will be added to the Ninja family soon. Atomos is bringing a brand new monitor-recorder to its lineup next month. Not much has been disclosed by Atomos, but in an emailed press release, they've pointed out that "while the current Ninja V is going from strength-to-strength with many updates and improvements, supporting ProRes RAW across a variety of cameras" they're "thrilled to be also announcing in early May a brand-new family member in the lineup, that amongst other exciting features will bring stunning 4K 120p ProRes RAW recording to our customers." The product announcement comes on the heels of Sony announcing new firmware updates for the FX9 and FX6 that will support external 4K 120p RAW. Since Atomos is the only company developing external ProRes RAW, the two companies are somewhat tied together in terms of innovation and available video formats for shooters. We've started to see Blackmagic Design support more third-party cameras with Blackmagic RAW—for instance, the Panasonic S1H and Nikon Z mirrorless cameras—but we have yet to see BRAW come to Sony.
