ARRI opens its doors to a certified pre-owned program for its Alexa cameras. The ARRI Alexa line usually falls in the "rent" category for most indie filmmakers, but a new certified pre-owned program opens the door to owning one on the cheap. If you're familiar with the many certified refurbished programs out there from places like Apple, Canon and Nikon, you already know how it works. During ARRI's certification process the company tests image sensor quality, recording functions, flange focal distance, audio, and the ARRI Lens Control System. Better yet, there's a complete overhaul of its Software Update Packet (SUP) so it has the latest version installed on the model. Before ARRI stamps it with its approval, it goes through the same "Final Function Test as new cameras, ensuring it meets the high standards expected of it."
