2026 BAFTA Nominations Are In: PTA and Coogler Dominate

Awards season is upon us, and it feels like almost every weekend we're getting lists of nominees or fun shows to watch. Next up is the BAFTAs, which announced their nominees this morning. Leading the charge is Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which secured a staggering 14 nominations. It was two shy of the all-time record. Hot on its heels is Ryan Coogler’s Sinners with 13 nods, marking a milestone for the most nominations ever for a film by a Black director. Meanwhile, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet and Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme are firmly in the mix with 11 nominations apiece. It feels like there will be a fierce showdown across all major categories. From surprising snubs (like the shut-out of Wicked: For Good in major categories) to the rise of international gems like the Manipuri drama Boong, the 2026 list reflects a global cinema landscape that is as unpredictable as it is vibrant.Let's dive in. 2026 Bafta NominationsBest FilmHAMNET Liza Marshall, Pippa Harris, Nicolas Gonda, Steven Spielberg, Sam Mendes MARTY SUPREME Timothée Chalamet, Anthony Katagas, Eli Bush, Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER Adam Somner, Sara Murphy, Paul Thomas Anderson SENTIMENTAL VALUE Maria Ekerhovd, Andrea Berentsen Ottmar SINNERS Zinzi Coogler, Sev Ohanian, Ryan Coogler Outstanding British Film28 YEARS LATER Danny Boyle, Andrew Macdonald, Peter Rice, Bernard Bellew, Alex Garland THE BALLAD OF WALLIS ISLAND James Griffiths, Rupert Majendie, Tom Basden, Tim Key BRIDGET JONES: MAD ABOUT THE BOY Michael Morris, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Jo Wallett, Helen...
