This year's Cannes Film Festival will run from May 14th through May 25th. With less than a month until commencement, the Cannes Film Festival has announced much of its 2019 lineup. This year's festival not only has a strong showing for both American and Asian filmmakers, but it also has 13 official selections from female directors, 4 of which are competing in the main category, the highest number since 2011. Festival veterans Jim Jarmusch, Pedro Almodóvar, Xavier Dolan, and Terrence Malick will be vying for the Palme d'Or, however, world-renowned directors Werner Herzog and Nicolas Winding-Refn will also have screenings of their films, though out of competition.
