Parrot drone manufacturer lost 60% of value and is going down
  • Parrot announced quite bad last quarter results. One of the reasons being too high prices of their drones and very late introduction of Anafi drone.

At Friday they lost instantly 50% of valuation and now it is close to 60%.

Even last year they had been in red, and now already lost 84 millions euros, around 5x compared to year ago.

Drone market overall in tightly regulated developed countries has big issues. As now you have almost no places to fly your drone. And one you can use are of little interest for causal consumer.

Company will go through optimization process.

  • Despite a restructuring and the release of the Anafi (pictured above), the drone manufacturer Parrot ends its fourth quarter with a turnover (turnover) of 31 million euros, 4 million of its target. This results in an annual turnover estimated at 109 million euros, down 28% compared to 2017. In fact, a fall of 32% in turnover on the drones for the general public (53 million euros) that does not compensate the modest growth in the professional sector (+ 5% to € 44 million) and the strongest margins it can generate.

Parrot thus anticipates an operating loss of 65 million euros, above the 57.6 million in 2017. If it has about 160 million euros left in the caisses, the Frenchman has no choice but to stop haemorrhage quickly to ensure its longevity. The company plans to continue to develop its business by creating new bridges with its consumer business to reduce costs. Development in the defense and security market is also desired.

In this context, the Takeover Bid (OPA) conducted by Henri Seydoux, CEO and founder of Parrot, through his company Horizon, is a way out for shareholders. The board of directors of the company has thus validated the proposed acquisition of 9.59% of the capital at € 3.20 / share and invites shareholders to bring their shares to the offer. This would bring Henri Seydoux's share to 45.69% of Parrot's capital. This takeover bid was announced at the end of November, following the announcement of the poor results of the company which caused a sharp fall in the Parrot share price (-55%). Action that was quickly recovered after the presentation of the OPA to stabilize around € 3.2. It is now listed 3.24 €.

  • More development of this

Parrot has stopped the production and development of any drone but the Anafi and its variations.

Company will focus on developing B2B enterprise solutions.

DJI is now effectively monopoly, with behavior typical for one.

No support, strange releases schedule, very hard to talk to.
