    ..Robert from JuicedLink, for biting his tongue while our hero Olivia schools him that a shotgun mic has "a microphone here (pointing to the solid, non-perforated top of the metal mic body) and there's mics here (points to row of slits on side of mic body) but then this part actually has metal (points to solid side of mic)".

    Watch his eyes widen ever so very slightly as they dart to Olivia at 2:32, looking for signs that perhaps she's just kidding. But alas, she's not.

    Olivia is by far the best tech guru on the web. Hands down. No one else comes close. One of the great things about her videos is you can turn off the audio. THAT's how good she is. Think Adam Wilt could get away with that?

    Could Sir Robert the Juicedlink look any more uncomfortable? Could Olivia the hottie look any more bored? This is a classic. If I didn't know better, I'd say she's stoned.

    Ok, I'm through the video and it wasn't that bad. I have no idea what part is what in a mic, and Olivia said she hasn't focused on audio that much so who cares that she didn't know what was in the mic.

    @alcomposer ....dumb and stoned can easily be mistaken for each other. :P

    What's newsworthy, at least to me, is seeing just how shameless this Olivia fake DSLR tech expert schtick can get before I can log on here and stop seeing swoony mentions and links of what's basically become Kardashian: DSLR Edition, and before Emm decides even he's offended by how low he's sunk with this pinup sock puppet nonsense.

    I used to like his site, and his approach to figuring out low budget solutions to DSLR filmmaking. But this Olivia experiment is such a drag on so many levels. It's beneath him, and anyone looking for actual information about this subject.

    Olivia wasn't stoned in this video. She's just a dumb, disinterested kid working a whatever on-camera modeling gig in a cheap Valley office park stall. In the next stall over another kid just like her is in a string bikini straddling a Harley for a low end biker mag shoot and 2 stalls down more kids like her are shooting bad HD porn under flouresecent shop lights. In LA these are all equivalent gigs, in ascending order of prestige.

    While I'm firmly in the camp of "hot chicks" aren't that smart or funny...what Olivia is doing is no better, but certainly no worse, than any other dslr how-to vid I've seen online. It's just as boring as EVERYBODY else's videos.

    I'm hoping to do a few short vids soon and I'm probably going to have to pay an actress to star in them and if you think I'm going to hire a fat or ugly actress, you're nuts. I'm going to get the hottest I can afford.

    @alcomposer ...let's hope he ends up like Thompson too. :P

    Olivia is a babe and has a sparkling personality and all of us would be eating peanuts out of her hand were she to give us the time of day. Look at poor Sir Juicedlink, by the end of the interview he was starting to think he might get laid. Olivia however probably was thinking about reloading her bong pipe.

    1. I don't believe a woman's looks have anything to do with her intellect or acumen. Olivia is simply a know-nothing when it comes to this subject, good-looking or not. Her looks only come into play because some guys here seem willing to give her a pass on being a know-nothing if it means they get to ogle what they consider to be a "hottie".

    2. If you don't feel Olivia's videos are any worse than any other DSLR how-to videos online, you need to get out more. There are plenty of actual DSLR video experts online willing to share their expertise and knowledge - Philip Bloom, Vincent LaForet, and Andrew "EOSHD" Reid just to name three actual experts with experience and insight sharing their knowledge online with other DSLR shooters. Olivia is not one of them.

    3. If you are an expert and want to produce some how-to videos, why wouldn't you do it yourself rather than hire an on-camera talent who doesn't know the subject? I just don't get it. Not that Emm of cheesy cam.com is an expert on this topic but his own videos where he's talking about products and techniques he's playing with are far more authoritative and credible than any of the crap he does with Olivia as the talking head. It's clear she has no interest, no understanding, and not even the desire to fake it well. She's just a clueless, not terribly bright kid trying to break into web video presenting. Go on YouTube and you'll find her doing equally clueless how-to videos on home repair, etc. That this is even a job description nowadays - "attractive know-nothing for low budget 1-take how-to web videos" is pathetic. What enables it is guys willing to validate it as the equivalent of Bloom/LaFloret/Reid/et al because they don't know any better. That's the bummer of all this. The dumbing down of a topic that actually requires a fair amount of grey matter to get right.

    @Shaveblog ...I don't put Olivia on par with Bloom or LaForet or Reid...well maybe Reid. I kid, I keed. :P Olivia is at best, a second stringer, as are most below the Bloom level, and I judge her stuff by lower standards.

    But even a guy as talented as Bloom....he's not funny. I don't watch his or these "how-to" videos to be entertained, I watch them to learn something. The value of each thing learned is the same to me, even if one thing is taught to me by a vapid model, or a skilled technician at the top of his game. It's all FREE...well except Reid. :P

    I'm not gonna do how-to vids, I'm, going to do comedic shorts. I'm not that comfortable in front of the camera, and to do it right, I'll need to shoot it myself, so I'll need somebody else to be the face of the vids. I could hire a guy, but even a good looking guy won't get as many views as a hot girl will...and more views equals more money.

    I actually like that Digital Rev kid Kai. Though certainly he suffers from the burden of not being a hottie, he's smart, witty, and seems to know a thing or two about cameras and tech. I don't hear him straining to remember the big words his producer is feeding him, or doing Olivia's teen-doing-a-verbal-book-report-who-didn't-read-the-book delivery.

    But since I wouldn't eat peanuts out of his hand if given the chance I guess he's just a MASSIVE FAIL.

I mean, DigitalRev has a measly 140,000 subscribers and Olivia has....1800 subscibers.....>_> Olivia gets a few thousand views per vid....and DigitalRev gets a few hundred thousand views per vid.....>_>
