Advice on professional compact camcorder purchase

    EX1 successor? Or something like that.

    A production that I am remotely connected to want's to get Sony EX1 for their work, fast paced documentary, semi run and gun. So an ENG style camcorder with audio, NDs, fixed lens etc. Something like EX1. They can pay somewhere around 5k but even 1-2K plus could be done.

    I am not so informed on some more current cameras in that market, or some good alternatives, but not "cinema" digital cameras or dslr, just plain professional all in one camcorder.

    Any advice is welcome so please share your opinion. I can google around, but I hope for some valuable insight from you guys here first.

    Thanks @danwcarter, I'll look into this, this is possibly that thing we need, only if it becomes available soon enough.

    I think the pmw-200 and the pmw-300 are the ex1 and ex3 replacements
