  • 6um? Aiming for FF?

  • This sensor is ideal for video. 12mpx and big pixel size. But no video specs

I wonder who will buy this. I dont Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, Canon, Pentax, buying this. Who could? new brands?

    CPCC

    Chinese Pocket Cinema Camera :)

  • I wonder who will buy this.

Most probably it'll be first industrial applications. And later can be chinese companies who will make cameras by themselfs.

  • We've already got Kinefinity producing a good raw video camera out of China (their Kinefinity Mini S35 goes for under $3k), would be awesome to see another Chinese video camera product coming out of China at an even lower price point (something like the Panasonic G5 or Sony NEX-5 but at half the cost maybe if I may dream?).

Hmmm... on the spec sheet it refers to 4fps, while all their other products do 30fps or 15fps (for anything with 2 megapixels or more). Got to hope the 4fps of course refers to the limit for photo taking, and has nothing to do with the video capabilities. I'd assume/hope so.

They've been working on this particular sensor for a few years:

Member of Municipal Committee Mr. Zhao Fengtong directs our work

Member of Municipal Committee – Mr. Zhao Fengtong carried out a inspection to our company. Superpix general manager – Mr. Liu Zhibi made a summary report about the company situation, and explained the 12MP CMOS image sensor program. Mr. Zhao showed a high attention to this program, and asked about its industrialization process. Mr. Zhao figured that the government would focus on the high-tech company.

  • something like the Panasonic G5 or Sony NEX-5 but at half the cost maybe if I may dream?

Looking at tablets and phones this dream is not far away from becoming reality.

Chinese chip manufacturers are growing and learning very fast.

And modern mirrorless camera is mostly few chips and good screen :-)

  • Sad, I see now why that previous link from there which I posted was from a while ago:

    http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMjgwNDIxOTY4.html (chinese TV covering it)

This was way back in December 2011 when they announced their sensor.

However the link VK posted at the start of this thread (http://www.superpix.com.cn/en/Photo_Show.asp?InfoId=170&ClassId=38&Topid=0) gave a time of "AddTime:2013/9/16 11:11:53", am guessing it might just be a new website or something and they only added this new page about an old topic a few days ago.

Wonder why we haven't seen a flood of Chinese DSLR/MILCs built with this sensor? I have high hopes/expectations for future Chinese branded mirrorless cameras! :-D (perhaps using a Micro Four Thirds mount? As I understand there is more licensing issues around trying to use the Sony E mount instead)

Oh, and while looking this up I stumbled across this: http://image-sensors-world.blogspot.co.nz/2013/06/cmosis-and-towerjazz-ramp-up-12mp150fps.html If this is the sensor used in the BMPC4K then why can it only do 60fps and not 150fps?
