    Hello guys! We are shooting a new short film really soon and I decided it was time to look what kind of new hacks you guys have out...

    There is a lot to look at and I am a bit lost so I prefer to ask you what should I use.. this is the kind of shooting environment (Sorry for the crappy pics but you get the idea) :

    Im going to be using the olympus zuiko 14-35 f2

    I will like to get the maximum quality possible, I have all extreme cards so speed wont be a problem.

    Its my first short with the gh2 so Im really excited.

    I am not considered an expert, but I shoot everything narrative with driftwoods Quantum 9b. There are patches in the driftwood thread which are considered very night-time friendly, but I will definitely recommend shooting at GOP1. :)

    PS: Is that your work? I gotta say, from the directors perspective it is some of the best work i have seen on this forum. I wish you would have used a shoulder rig, maybe some tripod here and there- you know, the large movements are considered cool, the small, jittery ones are giveaways for "amateur" work. But grading, acting, directing- great :) nice to see! really suspenseful, too! Just as i thought "come on, not another zombie flick" - you got me haha :)

    Thanks a lot man, im glad you like short, yeah we shot that one fast but you are completely right, at least we should have use a monopod so we get a bit of the hand held movement but not as much.

    That was shot with the 60d but we want to push the quality on our next project thats why we are moving to the gh2.

    Thanks for your info on the GOP1 and Quantum 9b. as you can see we need to shot with not a lot of light so it might be tempting to check some of those other drifwoods night patches.. im just a little lost with all of the information :S

    well, also nice makeup for a quick shoot :) just go and try out quantum 9b at 24H and use your grading software to be amazed at the shadow detail :) really fine grain too!

    I really like quantum 9b, is it possible that it is a little bit noisier than other ones? like the sedna? I love the colors tho!!

    It could be, but I doubt that any high bitrate patches are less noisy, because, it just shows you the noise that low bitrates compress away. there is always neat video noise reduction plugin if you need it ;)

    Also keep in mind that your video mode (nostalgic, cinema, smooth,...) plays heavy into the amount of noise. i use cinema for narrative stuff :)

    @CHARPU I would vote for Sedna for general use over Quantum 9b - in my testing it generally preserved more detail and keep in mind it came out several months later and was the product of Driftwood's attempts to create an even better matrix. As far as Boom - Driftwood classifies it as an experimental setting, so I would not use it as my bread and butter.

    I do not have a comparison video Quantum v9b, but I do have Sedna, Quantum 9c and several others as original MTS files for download at http://perlichtman.com/pasdenapulse/wordpress/gh2-hack-reference/ in a controlled worst case scenario "completely awful light" situation. As far as 24H mode, Quantum 9b and 9c are rather similar but 9c had decreased bitrate/frame limits in response to increase stability (as some people were getting write errors on death charts with 9b that did not happen with 9c).

    Thanks so much for the info! I have to try them all, but im going to get in there and check all your tests! really useful! So witch sedna is the best on your opinion? specially to show in dark situations.

    @CHARPU There is not really a "best". The image differences are subtle. Q20 C is what you would use if you either need the least demanding/most reliable or want a slightly softer image. Sedna AQ1 A and Q20 A are the most detailed. Neither AQ1 nor Q20 has the edge in image quality - they are just each slightly better in some situations.
