Developing apps for GH2 control and patch selection??
  • Can anyone advise if there are iphone/ipod apps for GH2 CAMERA CONTROL available or in development? (Not general cinematography apps)

    Possible suggestions below:

-- Canon EOS can be remotely controlled for timelapse and exposure by "DSLR Controller" app shown in

-- Wi-fi control of Arduino cheapo style focus motors? Variable ND control? [$1400 pro system example here:
-- The minefield of patch selection could be simplified by an ever-updating app with drop-down options for the type of shoot you are doing??? -- User guide and warnings re "known issues" for various GH2 ISO's/patches/cam functions that can be searched by keyword? -- GH2 menu emulator so camera assistants can familiarise themselves before a shoot? Including a "game" where you have to set up cam for a particular shooting style?

Please chime in if you have insight about how the app project can be done (or not?) ... maybe compile a wish list of app functions?

Are there particular interface issues maybe with the USB port or something that might make it more difficult than for a Canon?

Are there any app makers who might want to jam on these concepts and take it on as a bit of a project?

  • No such app exist, and no will be.

Canon always can be controlled as they have it implemented in camera.

  • An Android app for the GH3 has been released ... allows wifi streaming, zooming, remote recording, mode selection, etc.
