A rare and beautiful instrument from J.C. Hoffmann, c1720

    Hoffmann was one of the greatest instrument makers of the early 18th century, and a friend of JC Bach. You can see and hear one of his viols played by Shirley Hunt; Shirley performs a work by Carl Friedrich Abel, a colleague of one of Bach's sons.
