Nine in ten Greeks have economic difficulties to buy their medication, while 70% say their income is not enough for the purchase of all the medicine they need. Furthermore, 59.5% did not proceed to labour tests as advised by their physicians due to economic problems.
Things are tough in Greece, but you have to take into account that there's a media war going on, these media sources are not really trustworthy (both of them actually :) too much propaganda. (9/10 ?? no disrespect but this is just bullshit, not even Albanians/Bulgarians have such a problem).
The biggest "medicine-related" problem actually, is that the government and insurance companies already owe a huge amount of money to the pharmacists, and as a consequence the pharmacists aren't able to buy and provide the medicines needed.
Also the survey took place near Patras, a pretty small, rural city (has a big port though).
As your source states:
"Unfortunately the news media sources (Proto Thema, Best.gr) do not give details on the social status of the survey-respondents such as whether the respondents are insured or not, pensioners or not."
But surely enough, we're not looking good, if things keep going this way, in a couple of years this survey will become true.
p.s. A funny video Vitaliy posted a while ago was closer to the truth, when it was saying that Greeks have two economies, one for the euro, and one for the drachmas. Greeks have old money, and they've always kept it away from tax declarations, etc.
Let's keep talk about original point, not how bad are sources in your mind.
I see nothing unreal in the results. It perfectly correlate to all I read and see.
More of the similar stuff:
Greece will provide 250 million euros in emergency funds to its ailing electricity providers to prevent a California-style energy crisis, government officials said on Friday.
The liquidity injection removes the risk of a financial chain reaction which, according to regulators, was threatening to bring the country's electricity system to its knees.
The temporary aid will shore up the accounts of main power utility PPC, allowing it to maintain operations and reimburse other suppliers of electricity and natural gas on whom the smooth functioning of the country's energy system depends.
Greece's energy market has fallen into disarray due to a combination of stagnant power demand, rising fuel costs and a government decision to use PPC as a tax collection vehicle.
An increasing number of consumers stopped paying their electricity bills after the government started collecting a 1.7 billion euro property tax through them last year, in a desperate effort to meet its budget targets under an EU/IMF bailout.
Hello (again) from Greece. Vitaly's p;ointi that the problems here ARE big. Even if it not 9/10 but it is 8/10 or 6/10 the BIG pr;oblem remains. The health system decide to change specific receipt for drugs with replacements - genocides. The Drug storew DECIDE which brand will give to the patient. Both my parents (72 year father and 65 years mother) live this situation daily. It was an alternative from our government to reduce the cost BECAUSe both citizen and Government DON't have enough money to pay. Everyone knows that social media NEVER telling the whole truth and their target is to sell via fear, but the elephant is here. Even the elephant is 3 or 5 tons weigt, even he is grey, white or pink, HE HAS ARRIVED.!!!
@Vitaliy "Let's keep talk about original point, not how bad are sources in your mind."
It's not in my mind unfortunately, it's related to my past studies and work (I know these people and what they do, personally). This survey (the 1st you posted), has actually won a high standards award. I also happen to have a family member who owns one of the biggest media research companies in Greece.
But you are absolutely right, it's better to provide sources and evidence when discussing these issues. I apologize for being vague, although at the end of the day, we know that a research can be manipulated.
As @haribabis said, the introduction of generics (edited) is also part of the problem, as it was presented to the public as a solution, when in reality it's just an effort to hide and avoid the real problem. (the research you posted is trying to indicate that, but at the same time it was funded by the opposite political party, which is essentially the same shit, with sole purpose to create fear).
In any way, Greece is into deep shit, and many Greeks are suffering. What I was trying to say is that things will become much worse, and when eventually 9/10 Greeks end up having the same problem, we will witness an extremely different situation .
lol..@liquidify & @bubba
You're right, we meant "generics".. :)
