    As it turns out rumors had been true - NVidia had been one of the main sponsors of cryptocurrency craze and it tuned in huge profit for them (as publications and media are quite cheap now).

    Nvidia also wrote down $128 million in inventories by destroying mostly 1080 and 1080 Ti chips to allow them to keep highly inflated prices on 2080. In the terms of final cards prices it is around $350-600 millions.

    Nvidia still has around $800 millions in extra inventories (compared to usual norm) that they can also try to eliminate to not allow prices to fall.
