VR market - projected 7x growth

  • OK... I know nothing about the source, but I call bullsh*t on these projections, unless they are talking VR sex-slave robot/android/doll sales

    I might agree that startup companies will LOSE that much money courting customers, but I'd predict the first fully useable VR/AR platform might make it to market in 2020 beyond a costly poor experience gimmick

    In several cases, pornography led the way in technology use and refinement, then the practical consumers followed suit once the kinks were worked out

    so, when the US population starts to reduce due to consumption of VR porn, then these stats make sense...

    WHY? they have to solve VR sickness first and make goggles comfortable, in which both killed 3D and was a much less difficult problem to solve

    VR and 3D printing has been in engineering for OVER 25+ years, and for real comfortable work 40+ hrs/week engineers to this day prefer 2D interface interaction to reduce eye strain, etc and preserve health long-term, and real production parts are RARELY 3D printed...

    Not this problems killed 3D. Copyright and fight for premium income played bad role. And it is not dead, btw.

  • @Vitaliy_Kiselev Yes, I agree, a rig of at least six high-quality 3D camera arrangements would yield a useful stereographic 360 VR field, but very expensive and quality VR goggle technology is not ready at consumer prices

    My first great consumer 3D experience was with LG OLED last year, but they killed it off this year, and you can't get 3D discs for 4K players , so unless theatrical or future VR, 3D consumer devices don't exist around here

    Well, latest Samsung phones makes stereo VR quite accessible for people. May be it is not hallmark, but works.

    As for high quality camera - Vuze is coming in budget segment and Insta360 Pro is available.

    It's hard for me to see the market meeting those lofty growth projections unless these issues are addressed or Porn eventually displaces Gaming as the primary driving force (lots of lonely people out there).
