Fujinon A20x8.6BERM Lens - Micro 4/3 compatible?
  • ***EDIT: I was not searching for the right terms online. This is ENG lens and it has been successfully mounted to DSLRS with numerous tutorials. Please disregard. ***

I have several Fujinon A20x8.6BERM lenses from a Sony Digital Video Camera DXC-D35.

I've searched the net to see how well this lens would work on my GH3 with an adapter but cannot find anything.

Here are the specs on the Lens according to: http://www.fujifilmusa.com/products/optical_devices/broadcast-hd-sd/sdtv-lenses/2-3-pro/a20x86-berm/

Note: It says the aspect ratio of the lens is 4:3...Can a lens be set for that? I thought that was determined by the camera recording format, not the lens. (my apologizes for the noob question. I'm still learning).

What are your thoughts on this lens for micro four third use? Would I be able to set up an external power supply on my rig to use the zoom feature?

  • You can use it on GH3 and any other m4/3 camera. It's a good lens, not the sharpest one but usable. Using the built-in extender it will cover perfectly the sensor area of your camera. Btw, there are no 4/3 or 16/9 lenses for the matter. A lens can or cannot cover a given sensor format. There is a topic dedicated to the use of B4 lenses on m4/3 cameras with very useful info: http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/412/b4-lenses-and-mounting-solutions/p1
