There is a while i didn't came here, and i always loved this place.

Long story short i made a free video converter based on FFmpeg which can converter to professional and standards codecs with hardware acceleration (Nvenc, QSV, AMF...)

Works on Windows, Mac and Linux.

I started this project in 2013 developing with video editor (that i am also) in broadcast companies.

Here is a link to the website & downloads : https://www.shutterencoder.com

Hope you will enjoy the software.

Happy encoding !

Paul.

Edit: Rewrap DNxHD MXF files to Quicktime files solved via firmware update. New problem now tho. https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2216/edit-rewrap-dnxhd-mxf-files-to-quicktime-files-solved-via-firmware-update.-new-problem-now-tho. Tue, 07 Feb 2012 14:20:19 +0000 Brian202020 2216@/talks/discussions The new Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 records DNxHD files in the MXF wrapper. These files can only be read by Avid's NLE. If these file could be rewrapped into a quicktime wrapper then other NLE's would be able to read the files. Many people on many forums are trying to find a solution to this. I want to start this thread here to get more people joining the cause. The Hyperdeck Shuttle 2 is a great buy at an amazing price, and if we could get the files rewrapped or transcoded cheaply it would be huge.

Has anyone done this successfully? Or at least have any good idea's on how to do this?

GH3 codecs and workflow https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5410/gh3-codecs-and-workflow Fri, 07 Dec 2012 19:32:27 +0000 jonbeeotch 5410@/talks/discussions I'd like to start a conversation about the pros and cons of the different options with the GH3.

I primarily work as an editor, but im not super "tech". For the past few years i've been using a hacked gh1 for my personal stuff, editing on an imac with FCP 7, log and transfer to prores. As far as i have experienced h264 has not been good to edit with? every time i have had footage shot with canons sent to me for work, an assistant editor would trans-code to prores.

so with one of the main selling points of the GH3 being ALL-I, and the talk of "edit ready" h264, im confused.

like everyone else, i want to get the most out of this camera in terms of image quality, so my question is, to transcode or not? if you were to transcode ALL-I footage to prores, would it defeat the purpose of shooting it in the first place? what are the pros and cons of working with H.264?

the primary size and frame rates i'd be using are 1080 24p and 1080 60p for slow motion.

what are you guys doing for post? what are your opinions on codecs and workflow?

thanks! jon

GH2 to Da vinci resolve help https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4337/gh2-to-da-vinci-resolve-help Thu, 23 Aug 2012 03:13:37 +0000 theacumen 4337@/talks/discussions Hi, Im trying to edit a short film using gh2 and fs700 footage. Unfortunately da vinci resolve wont read any of them.

What should i use to transcode the footage to something that will work with da vinci like quicktime or prores without losing quality?

Thanks

Editing Codec : Prores/DNxHD/Aquamotion/seaQuake/etc. https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2098/editing-codec-proresdnxhdaquamotionseaquakeetc. Tue, 24 Jan 2012 00:35:40 +0000 Nityananda_SCSMath 2098@/talks/discussions I would like this thread to be a discussion of what is the appropriate required "flavor" or bitrate of an editing codec for a certain hack.

For instance, I am recording using the 100Mbps Aquamotion v2 hack, and I want to transcode to normal Prores 422, which is about 115Mbps for 1080p24. I don't want to transcode to HQ (220Mbps) or 4444 (330Mbps) if I don't have to. But am I losing quality? How much? I would rather have my file sizes be nearly half and have 98% of the quality of the hack, but I wouldn't make that sacrifice if I'm only getting 70% of the hack's capable quality. So some input from those who are more knowledgeable would be good.

Is this correct?

Aquamotion v2 100Mbps -> Appropriate Editing Codec -> Prores 422 or DNxHD 145

seaQuake 176mbs -> Appropriate Editing Codec -> Prores 422 HQ or DNxHD 220

Of course this thread should be an open discussion of different hacks and editing codecs not just relevant to me as the "Original Poster," I'm just starting things off.
