60p to 60i https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14820/60p-to-60i Fri, 18 Mar 2016 09:18:19 +0000 fran 14820@/talks/discussions Hello, We are going to shoot a tv show for Japan, here in Spain. We got FS7 on NTSC 60i as they want it, but is imposible to shoot interlaced on A7sII. I' m wondering about to put the small A7S II on NTSC 60p and leting them interlace in post the footage. What do you think? Would be a total mess or will work for them? Thanks

my girlfriend recently bought her first camera. She started out in January and I think she is making incredible progress. Unfortunately she is not getting a lot of views on her videos.

The Windmill and the Gulls (Sony RX-100 IV + BMPCC)

We shot this one together in February. The location is Bremen, Germany.

What do you guys think?

If you like it, feel free to drop her a like on Vimeo or maybe even follow her! There'll be plenty of new videos in the near future.

Shooting NTSC for a PAL final, using GH2 in PAL, and a Gh4 in NTSC as backup. Advice? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13168/shooting-ntsc-for-a-pal-final-using-gh2-in-pal-and-a-gh4-in-ntsc-as-backup.-advice Sat, 13 Jun 2015 15:29:51 +0000 Brian_Siano 13168@/talks/discussions This Tuesday, I'm doing a shoot where the client requested that the final footage be in PAL format: 25fps, Quicktime, 1080i. Obviously, I'm in America, because this wouldn't be an issue otherwise. I have two questions for which advice would be appreciated.

Happily, thanks to Vitaly's hack, I can use my GH2 to shoot PAL natively. And since I'm thinking of buying a GH4, I rented one for the weekend, and will bring it along as a backup/second unit camera. Thing is, the GH4 can only shoot NTSC.

So I figure, I'll convert my GH2 footage to Quicktime fairly easily, but I'd like to know what the best Quicktime export settings would be for Premier Pro CC. That's question #1.

The GH4 footage will be converted to PAL 25fps Quicktime, so I'd like to know what framerate would offer me any advantages in the conversion. Would it be better to shoot 24fps, or would shooting at 60fps enable a cleaner conversion to 25fps?

(I won't be shooting 4K, though. I want to experiment with that, maybe tomorrow.)

Can the GH3 be switched from NTSC to PAL using this method https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12761/can-the-gh3-be-switched-from-ntsc-to-pal-using-this-method Wed, 08 Apr 2015 16:05:04 +0000 simo777 12761@/talks/discussions I found a link here that lets you download the service manual: http://elektrotanya.com/panasonic_dmc-gh3_series.pdf/download.html and I read through at page 16-19 shows you "How to define the Model Suffix", it shows you how to select the model suffix after replacing Main P.C.B.

My question is would it be possible for me to change my GH3PC (NTSC) camera to a GH3GC (PAL - India)? This would allow me to use in Europe without recording limit.

GH3 NTSC to PAL https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6843/gh3-ntsc-to-pal Mon, 29 Apr 2013 15:34:41 +0000 nicneg 6843@/talks/discussions Hello everybody! My name is Nicu (Nikolay) and I'm new on this forum. Today I recieved my GH3 camera from US, and I realized that this is NTSC version, but I'm living in Moldova, and I need PAL mode. So, my question: Is it possible to modify the firmware (v 1.1) to change from NTSC mode to PAL? Thanks in advice!

Japanese GX7 import is ntsc? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12261/japanese-gx7-import-is-ntsc Wed, 28 Jan 2015 05:49:07 +0000 Matt 12261@/talks/discussions I have an option of buying a GX7 that's been imported from Japan (though apparently it's all in English). Does this mean that the camera is essentially NTSC, offering 30p and 60p recording, rather than just 25p and 50p of the EU version? Thanks.

GH2 - GF2 drewnet v6 PAL - NTSC output influence on 24p footage https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10777/gh2-gf2-drewnet-v6-pal-ntsc-output-influence-on-24p-footage Fri, 11 Jul 2014 14:38:02 +0000 eventive 10777@/talks/discussions I've been using my GH2 with the drewnet v6 hack in NTSC output mode for a long time (in PAL land). Now that I've got an extra GF2 (also drewnet v6 installed), I want to combine footage of both the camera's. I'm thinking about using 720 25p on both camera's to do so (unless someone has a better idea). But I'm also in the middle of a bigger 1080 24p project on the GH2. When I change the GH2 from NTSC output to PAL, does this influence the 1080 24p footage in any way?

Premiere Pro and DVD authoring question https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/10522/premiere-pro-and-dvd-authoring-question Mon, 02 Jun 2014 18:40:31 +0000 Brian_Siano 10522@/talks/discussions I'm working on a project where roughly seven video HD streams (both 720pand 1020p) are going to be rendered down onto a DVD (720x480). Thing is, when I do test renders from Premiere Pro (CS5) to check the quality, it takes a phenomenally long time. For example, a four-minute excerpt takes about two to three hours. The final product is roughly 2 hours long, so I'm looking at a looong render time.

I'd like to know any strategies for shortening this process. Would it be best to simply import the sequence into Encore,. and let Encore handle the DVD rendering? Or, should I use Premier Pro to export the video to an MPEG-2 file, and important that as an Encore asset?

(Also, if anyone has an FAQ on how to adjust render quality in Encore, send me the link. I've never been able to figure out anything beyond the basic bitrate setting.)

What is best way to convert for the web: 50p or 24p to 30p https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7562/what-is-best-way-to-convert-for-the-web-50p-or-24p-to-30p Fri, 19 Jul 2013 15:22:25 +0000 andrevanberlo 7562@/talks/discussions I've bought 2 GH3's PAL and want to start recording videos for the web. Now i know that 30p is best for the web but what would be the best footage/way to convert and what program or hardware to use? Would like to have option to use footage for dvd.

50p to 30p or 24p to 30p

Does anyone know which would give the best results? Or would 24p itself work fine? The videos are only static shots of a guitar(lesson) so no panning.

A second question would be: i want to do live streaming with those 2 cams, would 24p be the best setting for live internet streaming? I've heard 25p is crappy and 50p not yet possible...

Thanks!

25p for NTSC gh2 (from USA) https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4918/-25p-for-ntsc-gh2-from-usa Wed, 17 Oct 2012 15:57:23 +0000 tomek123 4918@/talks/discussions Hi,

I have a brand new GH2 (couldn't wait for GH3) form B&H for cheap.

I installed Apocalipse Now patch and I can't find a way to shoot in the best quality at 1080 25p (progressive). Looks like there's some option for 1080 25i, but not in HBR mode (as I understand this is the best quality mode) . In HBR it can make only 30p.

Is it possible to record in HBR mode in 25p? I could'n find the exact answer around.

Well, if it's no possible to shoot 1080 25 progressive , maybe I have to sell it... :(

Is there some hope for my case?

Thank you in advance.

GH2 Batteries - Japanese GH2 Battery working in Australia GH2 and vice versa? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4890/gh2-batteries-japanese-gh2-battery-working-in-australia-gh2-and-vice-versa Sun, 14 Oct 2012 19:26:04 +0000 Ewanc 4890@/talks/discussions Hi Everyone

Just wondering whether anyone has had any experience with using official GH2 batteries from different regions from where they bought their GH2 from.

I.e. Using a Japanese GH2 battery in an Australian GH2.

I only ask as there's two different GH2 battery models: DMW-BLC12 (America / Japan) DMW-BLC12E (European / Australian)

The power output is the same on both models. (7.2V 1200mAh 8.7Wh)

Thanks.

first time hacking GH2 ntsc to use PAL - problems https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3613/first-time-hacking-gh2-ntsc-to-use-pal-problems Mon, 18 Jun 2012 03:22:06 +0000 tzver 3613@/talks/discussions hi there, first, thank you all, its great to be a part of a growing community. i got my NTSC GH2 and i need to use it in PAL mode. it came with firmware 1.1, i use SanDisk extreme UHS-1 45MB/s x300 cards (32 & 16 GB). i tried to hack it using EOSHD patch 44 Vanilla, and it seemed to work well, i was recording almost 40 minutes but then i went outside (while continuing the shot) and after few seconds i got this message "MOTION RECORDING TERMINATED DUE TO CARD WRITE SPEED LIMITATION" (somthing like that) and the camera freezed. only removing the battery restarted it. i wonder is there a known issue with this card type, or that the patch i used isn't reliable to use on originaly NTSC body in PAL mode? i have to run more tests, i loaded the body now with the original 1.1 firmware and changed only the 30 minutes limitation, the ISO expending option and the PAL/NTSC switching option. any suggestions for a reliable patch that'll work for me with these cards & body?

thanks.

p.s. - hope its not a too stupid question - what does SPANING means? why is it important?

thanks again :)

GH2 NTSC TO PAL INFO https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2516/gh2-ntsc-to-pal-info Wed, 07 Mar 2012 07:41:06 +0000 IKONIC 2516@/talks/discussions Hi All,

I currently have a GH2 PAL version with the updated Panasonic firmware. I am looking at an additional GH2, and was considering to purchase a NTSC model. One question I have been trying to find out, and can never seem to get a firm answer about the hack. I hope someone can really clear the air for me, or guide me to the info.

Will I be able to use a NSTC GH2, hack and set it to unit PAL to perform the 50i/25p/24p...? I would like to have both the original PAL and new NSTC cameras set identically (which needs to be PAL)... so would this be possible? or is it recommended get a PAL model instead...?

Thanks, for your help in advance.

Need help with 24p footage for ntsc broadcast (converting) https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2471/need-help-with-24p-footage-for-ntsc-broadcast-converting Sat, 03 Mar 2012 11:53:25 +0000 RoyalCode_GH260D 2471@/talks/discussions Apologies if this has been asked already, I tried looking through the posts but didnt really find what i was looking for. I have my very first commercial shoot for a friend to be broadcasted locally and have no clue what I need to do. I'm using driftwood's orion v4b and was wondering about the workflow and steps to convert 24p footage correctly for it to air properly. I'm guessing i need to use a 3:2 pulldown for it to be (30p)? but i dont know how convert or what i need to do first, as im using Premiere CS5/AE. I'd rather do the conversion myself than giving someone the files to convert as they might not do it correctly. Thanks for any help.

GH2 PAL and NTSC versions https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/403/gh2-pal-and-ntsc-versions Sat, 16 Jul 2011 22:01:04 +0000 blues 403@/talks/discussions Getting an NTSC FS-100 for us Europeeans! https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/340/getting-an-ntsc-fs-100-for-us-europeeans Wed, 06 Jul 2011 07:04:26 +0000 Gabel 340@/talks/discussions But there is one issue: I need 24p, rather than 25p. As such I need an NTSC version.
So just import it you say!
Except there's a problem: You can't!

Sites like B&H are not allowed to sell it to Europe and I've even spoken with Sony themselves and they said that they can't import an NTSC version.
Which means that this thread goes out with the question: Does anybody here have any idea of how to import an NTSC version to Europe?

Of course, with a contact they could buy it there, but to me it just feels like there's got to be an easier way!

So this thread is dedicated to finding a solution! Of course, if one knew how to hack it into getting 24p, that could work too...]]>
