Priced to move:

My first and oldest GH1: $250: Slightly newer GH1: $275 http://www.imagebam.com/image/65c37f269962586

The older one does not come with the silkypix cd or a neck strap. First one to order gets a free spare non oem battery, but the bat's only good for a half hour, then it goes from full to 1/3 full then it starts to flash red quick. The older one also has these markings on the back LCD cover. They look like scratches, but they don't feel like scratches. It's smooth. EDIT: also discolorations on the older manual are light food stains, sorry. >_< http://www.imagebam.com/image/c32da2269962521 Also the rubber eyecup has a little hole/tear: http://www.imagebam.com/image/55f96d269962536

GH2 : $550 http://www.imagebam.com/image/4db272269962608 The only problem is the LCD has three small dots on the lower right corner, they look like smudges, but when I tried to clean it off, they wouldn't come out. Only visible when dark, under normal use, can't see em. I only noticed them when I started looking the camera over to sell it. I tried to take a picture of them, but I couldn't get them to show.

2 Olympus 14-54mm F2.8-3.5: $250 each First order get's free Lens Hood. Only one Lens Hood. http://www.imagebam.com/image/aae2b4269962655 Good condition.

What Hack do I have? - Gh1 https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7695/what-hack-do-i-have-gh1 Mon, 05 Aug 2013 17:07:43 +0000 rickei 7695@/talks/discussions About 6 months ago I bought a used GH1 with a hack already installed. I am happy with the results, but would like to play around with some other hacks. The problem is i don't know what hack has already been applied to my camera, and would really like to be able to revert back to it, as I have been happy with the footage and reliability so far.

Question: Is there any way for me to know what hack was applied?

Wilting Flowers, Fading Songs: A Documentary Project about a tribe from the Western Himalayas https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7533/wilting-flowers-fading-songs-a-documentary-project-about-a-tribe-from-the-western-himalayas Tue, 16 Jul 2013 12:23:28 +0000 feonn 7533@/talks/discussions Hi there! In the last 3 years I've been involved in documenting the oral traditions of a very small ethnic community in Ladakh, India near the border with Pakistan. Much of the work was done on self funding until now, but this time not possible :/ so we started an Inidegogo campaign - http://igg.me/at/fadingsongs

They are called "Brokpa" (aka 'Highlander' - a bit neglectful name given by the Ladakhis) and are quiet popular nowadays with tourist because of their aryan origin, Mediterranean features and gorgeous traditional dresses and ornaments. But no one knows a bit about their culture, as they are not documented at all and local government is treating them quiet bad also!

The problem is that they are less than 2000 in population and due to the impact of modernisation and sensitive politic situation with Pakistan and China, all their traditions are very rapidly diminishing... Nowadays they are kept only by a very few members from the older generation with not much hope to be passed to the younger one :( This will very soon lead to an irretrievable loss of identity :/

I saw it myself and that was my biggest motivation for starting this documentary project. The idea is to make at the end a series of short documentaries and bring all of them along with music recordings and research papers online accessible for everyone and to the community as well. We've managed to do much of this work, but still need one more really extensive fieldwork (~50 days on spot or two and a half months the whole trip).

This thread is not really to ask for money (though every $ will be welcome :p) but just to let you know about this. It will be much appreciated if you could spread the word about the campaign, share it etc. As you know campaign fundings depends very much on clicks and activity... so a bowing thanks for every share! - http://igg.me/at/fadingsongs

The above footage was shot in 2011 when we had a 5d mkii and a GH13. It's a quick edit, as much of the footage and audio are still being edited. This year I have a GH3 (really hope for a hack soon) + some minolta md glass and SLR magic 25mm & 12mm and a BMPC if I'm lucky enough to get it before 15th September. The audio will be on a Marantz 661 + NT-4 and NTG-2 with lots of batteries. They don't have electricity yet in those villages, so we had to charge all batteries and laptop on the solar panels of the locals. That was very time consuming and it's another reason we decided to try to raise some more money to cover a generator.

I'm be happy for any feedback, suggestions and support! If you know new budget ways to charge in the field, please let me know!

PROJECT SUMMARY:
For 20 years (1993-2013), I got used to go with my girlfriends to New York, and set my love memories on film...
WOMANHATTAN is a film from my point of view as an obsessive director: the obsession of filming my girlfriends in New York, the obsession of magnifying them, the technological obsession of finding the camera shots that best reflected my feelings.
WOMANHATTAN is a trip back in time, before and after 9/11, where I take us to the heart of New York and its urban landscapes, my thoughts on the passing of time, on love and the possibility of being free one day from my obsessions, and living fully the present and my love life. To discover my world here is the teaser :

ND filters vs high shutter in ext. shots https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6940/nd-filters-vs-high-shutter-in-ext.-shots Sat, 11 May 2013 10:53:46 +0000 AlbertZ 6940@/talks/discussions I' m fond of mid-60's film with B/N , close shot and shallow DOF...every time I want to shoot something referring to this style, I generally use ND filter in ext. shots. However, yesterday I have left my ND and I was forced to shoot with my GH1 using HIGH SHUTTER and WIDE Aperture (50mm 1.7/ 2.8) with sunlight -about 5 PM, Italy is a very sunny land;)..I was struck by the results: they were closer to the 60's aesthetic than my shots with ND filter...I was wandering if high shutter was employed in cinema in the 60's...or shutter HAS ALWAYS EVER BEEN 50?

Vivitar Variable ND Test https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6727/vivitar-variable-nd-test Wed, 17 Apr 2013 15:10:14 +0000 DailyFilmFix 6727@/talks/discussions Here's a test I did today with the Vivitar NDX variable filter. I have been in post on my latest doc, "Three Days at Foster," and I've been working overtime on color correction. I used this particular filter on my Zuiko 45mm because the filter was for 37mm thread. I knew there were concerns about color cast and loss of sharpness, but a lot of what I shot was lovely anyway. The rest, I'm fixing.

So, for this test, which is probably not well done, I set up my GH1 with the reliability hack and set it to smooth with everything -2. I manually white balanced on the white door with each test after I set exposure. I pulled focus using a loupe.

To my eye, the one with the filter on it and the extra LED light does look, perhaps, a little less sharp. When I sharpened, it became a little more clear that there may be a slight loss of sharpness. But you guys look at it and tell me if my eyes need to be reset.

I ran three cameras on my doc (two GH1s and an HMC150) and was able to find an angle every time that worked. But I did not properly pay attention to color on some shots and tried to dial it in. After this test, I'm going to manually do it moving forward. Actually, I did manually balance with my video camera (the HMC150) on each interview, which did make a difference.

My main question is: now that Light Craft has a 37mm variable ND available at Adorama, based on this test, how much better would it be?

Finally, I realize that the casting and focus issues would become more pronounced as I cranked the ND down (darker), however, mine was set in the middle of the scale on the side of the filter, which I thought would be good for this test.

The patch for this video was the awesome but seldom used LPowell Fast Action 720p30 50Mbps @ 3-frame GOP AVCHD Patch. Shutter was mostly 1/60 but GH1 thumb dial occasionally gets knocked on the front of the camera and i find it on 1/80 at times. The lens can render some nice blurred backgrounds and pop the focus. All shot hand held.

The audio was a Zoom H1 internal mics with windsock placed on the ground in front of the performers and the commentator at the end had the Zoom stuck mid chest inside his shirt. This is the intro to the event, shot in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand last weekend.

GH1 vs GH2 vs GH3 Latitude Test https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6251/gh1-vs-gh2-vs-gh3-latitude-test Mon, 25 Feb 2013 12:20:36 +0000 mintcheerios 6251@/talks/discussions

I just got my GH3 today, and of course the first thing I had to do was this test. I threw the GH1 in there out of curiosity since I had one lying around. It looks like the GH series hasn't had much progress in the highlights, but the shadow detail has gotten much better. The GH1 and GH2 were hacked while the GH3 was using the stock 50mbps IPB setting. I chose this over the Intra because of reports that it held up better due to a more efficient compression algorithm (I don't know though since I've only had the camera for a day).

I used the cameras' spot meters on the big square gray patch (which is supposedly 18% gray), but I think the GH1 was a little hotter than the other two cameras when correctly exposed. Base ISO was used on all three cameras to achieve maximum DR. In post, I raised or lowered each image by one stop increments with Colorista II to compensate for the increased or lowered exposure levels. Hope someone finds this as useful as I have!

For a consumer camera, that my friends is awesome. In contrast, my HMC 152 died the first time i took it on a boat, to Panny's credit, they fixed it free of parts charges i only paid for labour, i did dunk it in salt water pretty bad.

I don't see many people on the forum having hardware issues so i assume all's good with everyone else.
