Dear All,

We have received 4 email requests from members of this forum on the possibility of designing an Anamorphic lens. We had this thought for the past year and did a lot of research. There is one common request which is to have horizontal flares. The others requests did not have any common grounds. We came up with an idea for a 25mm f/3.2 1.35x or 35mm f/3.2 1.35x Anamorphic lens for micro four thirds. Shooting at 16:9 would give a 2.40:1 anamorphic output. Just before we decided to go ahead with the project we had a second thought. 2 Years ago we asked openly on dpreview.com forum for what photographers wanted and the general consensus was our SLR Magic HyperPrime 12mm T1.6 lens.

It did not fulfill the needs and wants of everyone but we made what most people agreed on by means of a discussion. It ended up being a popular lens that we still are having problems meeting demand and we think it had a big part to do with asking photographers. If we did not ask around we probably made a 12mm f/2.8 lens. As it turned out quite well last time we want to make our next lens an open discussion again.

Here are some of the possible options we received and please feel free to throw in extra ideas. I hope people experienced with shooting in Anamorphic can also throw in ideas.

Camera with good DR and high framerates for slowmo?

Hi, I need a camera that can match my BMPCC shots and can capture at 100fps+. As the shots are bathing in sunlight with deep shadows under a tree, I need a camera with a high dynamic range (on the level of the BMPCC). Oh, and I don't have a Hollywood budget ;-)

1) What cameras can do both, fast fps and high DR?

2) Is there someone with such a camera in the Weilheim/Munich (Germany) area willing to help me out with his camera, lenses and technical knowledge (1-2 afternoons, arround sunset)?

I think one possible camera would be the Sony FS-700, but its expensive and even renting it is not cheap (as I have no experience with it, I will need additional time to learn its setups). Any thoughts on that one?

The GH4 can do 96fps, which is just enough (and I could use my m4/3 lenses) - but what about its DR?

I am selling my trustworthy Sony FS700 incl. a Movcam large shoulder rig. The camera was frequently used on productions and is not "like new". It is fully functional, with 4K output. Only superficial surface scratches on the body, a tiny one on the LCD (highlighted in photo, no problem when camera is sitched on) and some on the original handle (arm screwed on top of it).

The photos only show the bottom part of the Movcam rig. Side &top plate and handle from Movcam included! I didn't have too much time to show different setups.

This music video was shot with a Sony Fs700 and Samyang lenses.

Check the shots at night, they were all made at 50 fps, without help of any speedbooster, just the combination of the Samyang lenses and the right exposure.

We had no help of any kind of light equipment, because we didn't have the budget... just the street lights. For those who are thinking to buy this camera, I can just say that the Sony Fs700 is really a good deal for what it can deliver. See for yourself. And the grain... was put on purpose on post-production to have that dirty effect.

Canon 16-35 (II vs Original)

Can anyone who has used both lenses for video speak to the practical differences between the two? I am aware of the tech spec differences (10 groups / 14 elements vs 12 groups / 16 elements, weight, filter sizes), but I would be using it with a FS700 and Speed Booster & 5D mainly for video. If I can get a great deal on the original, I'm wondering if I would be losing out on anything that the II model gives you.

Selling my Sony SEL 18-200mm OSS lens that I got with the FS700. Only used it a couple of times. Bought it because I needed a lens while waiting for th metabones adapter to use my EF-lenses.

No originial box since kit lens, comes with Sun hood.

Thinking of 575 Euro plus shipping. FYI I live in Germany.

Looking for zoom lens recommendation with requirements

Hey there I'm looking for a recommendation for a zoom lens with the following things, but am having a hard time finding it. This is going to be used with a Preston FI+Z or C-Motion unit on an FS700, possibly with a speedbooster if it is a FF lens.

-Hard stops on zoom and focus, most likely a manual lens. I'd be afraid of breaking an AF lens even if it has hard stops.

-Zoom and focus rings can't change position while zooming or focusing

-Must be in the "normal" to wide range on the wide end, so anything with a 17 or 24 or 28 or 35 on the wide end. I don't care much about the long end.

-Constant aperture, is a major plus.

I do not need constant volume on the lens, or anything very fast.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, Im trying to edit a short film using gh2 and fs700 footage. Unfortunately da vinci resolve wont read any of them.

What should i use to transcode the footage to something that will work with da vinci like quicktime or prores without losing quality?
