I haven't done one of those in a long time. The kids are all still just as into climbing but I just didn't have the time anymore to put into making the videos.

However, one of the parents of a climber decided to build a pretty spectacular American Ninja Warrior course in his backyard. Here is what opening day looked like.

This was filmed with the GoPro Hero5 Black and the Panasonic LX100. Most of it is UHD/4K @ 30 FPS or 2.7k @ 60 FPS. However, some clips were 1080p @ 120 FPS converted to UHD/4K @ 60 FPS. There is one 720p @ 240 FPS clip for the super slow motion. The compression artifacts are terrible but 240 FPS is really cool for slow motion.

If you have any questions about the GoPro 5 please let me know. I know it doesn't look that much better than the Hero4. However, it still is a fabulous camera for what it is designed to do and its price is actually quite reasonable.

There is no color grading done at all. This is footage straight out of the camera pieced together and sometimes slowed down or sped up. No other changes except for just a little general sharpening throughout the video. This is the first 4K @ 60 FPS video I have done for youtube. I don't have the ability to make HDR videos yet. However, I am really impressed with the true HDR videos youtube now has.

120+ fps external recorders https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14576/120-fps-external-recorders Sat, 13 Feb 2016 08:51:08 +0000 joethepro 14576@/talks/discussions With more and more cameras being able to record high frame rates, are there any recorders on the horizon that will allow us to actually use those frame rates? Im kind of baffled as to why we are just lately seeing affordable 60p recorders.

GH1 or GH2 hack to Over ride frame per second ( fps ) https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11836/gh1-or-gh2-hack-to-over-ride-frame-per-second-fps- Sun, 23 Nov 2014 22:26:28 +0000 OverCranked 11836@/talks/discussions Hi every one, New here so I'll be careful. Did some searching around the topic by getting Google to drill into the past posts of PV - no avail. So here is the question and I apologize if this has been discussed. Is there " a " setting in any GH1 or GH2 hacks to over ride the fps the way MagicLantern does it for Canon cameras ? ( e.g. 18fps er 18.2 fps ) I am building a poormans telecine for capturing some family films, super8mm, 8mm and 16mm with and without sound. Some of these films are 18 frames per second and some rated at 24 fps. I'm just pointing the camera at the film gate of my projector ( variable speed ) and fine tune the film speed the best I can to reduce the flicker on the recorded video. Up to this point I have been shooting with a Canon 60D hacked with ML. At the best I have managed to reduce the flicker. But the rolling shutter and jello effect occasionally makes me laugh.

Some one told me that the GH cameras and the hack on these cameras give superior control and image quality. BUT ..., is there a way to over ride the fps down to 18 fps in any of the hacks ? Any suggestion is appreciated. BTW. I just purchased one of each GH1 ( so tiny this thing is ! ) and a GH2 the bigger brother just for this purpose.

Icarus Patch - Just For HBR (current: 0.0.6 60mbps 25p stable, GOP6) https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2416/icarus-patch-just-for-hbr-current-0.0.6-60mbps-25p-stable-gop6 Mon, 27 Feb 2012 05:12:17 +0000 Athiril 2416@/talks/discussions LATEST: Icarus Alpha Test 0.0.6

  • Updated to GOP6 from GOP5, to fix stuttering.
  • up to 60mbps
  • 2x trick mode in some scenes (Death chart)
  • QP16
  • Borrowed I, P, B frame scaling from Flowmotion
  • Improved Stability, so far have not been able to crash this in any test

Icarus 0.0.6 (indoor scene, f/2.8, 24mm, ISO3200, custom WB) (first couple seconds had rough motion, second half of bitrate distribution is what you normally see fairly static, where as movement scales up the B frames), typical B frames larger than Flowmotion's I frames. image

Flowmotion 1.11 (same as above), much lower bitrate (imho it just cannot deliver with HBR modes), also crashes death charts with speed errors. image

See what you think.

This is currently an Alpha Test. It needs more testing, but since I am pursuing the best HBR can offer, I've always found full daylight to be the bane of any attempt at raising HBR bitrate, I shall see how it performs in the morning in that regard.

1080p/i and 50 or 60fps? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2433/1080pi-and-50-or-60fps Tue, 28 Feb 2012 13:12:39 +0000 willianaleman 2433@/talks/discussions Is it possible to obtain a highest fps than 29.97 or 30 in NTSC 1080p or "I"? I'm looking for 50 or 60fps to record fast motion panning from a fluid head tripod with manual lens.

I'm using Balazer's Cake patch v.1.1 with Ptool 1.63. Thanks in advance for any help.

GH2 MJPEG 1080p 25 fps. https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1713/gh2-mjpeg-1080p-25-fps. Mon, 12 Dec 2011 07:00:37 +0000 Athiril 1713@/talks/discussions
Now I went to stock settings (original GH2) for MJPEG with 25 fps, worked. So loaded the LPOWELL 100mbps/night 1080p settings, added 25 fps changed, works on my GH2. I'm not sure if it's merely dropping 5 frames out of every second (don't think it is). But if you shoot 1/25th, not sure if that it'd matter?

I'll try to examine it at some point with some linear motion at fixed speed, and look for 'jumps' in space.

My test file is reported as 75,697 kbps. Or 74 mbps. Which would be 88.7 mbps @ 30 fps, at the same average size/compression per frame. Available recording time is reported as 3m 12s. Recording on a Transcend 32gb class 10.

Test file was shot at ISO 2500, probably a stop underexposed still by the looks, just messing around in indoor light.

I'll do some slow panning on a monopod tomorrow with shutters @ and greater than 1/30th, and upload that.

Also I have gotten sizes a bit above 1080p working fine before too, which is useful I think for stabilising software if (such as deshaker) if you can shooter slightly wider than you want/need, so you don't have to blow up (or blow up as much) back to 1080p frame size for a 1080p output workflow. Combined with 25 fps would be great.]]>

I downloaded the files from the link above and pulled them into streamparser. They appear to be 28 mb/sec but I noticed that their I, P, B frames were a lot lower than what I have seen for even the 32 mb/sec GH2 footage. Maybe @Cbrandin can comment on whether stream parser would be accurate for the A77 files.

The other interesting thing is that the 1080p @ 60 FPS files don't really look any better than the 1080i files. They are not of the same scene but if I didn't know which one was which I don't think I could tell them apart. Panasonic has already stated that they intend to give the GH2 25 FPS with a firmware update and they have a history of giving older cameras new features(ie: LX3 and LX5 more recently).

I think Panasonic should just enable 1080p @ 60 FPS for the GH2. They have stated that the GH3 is not coming out anytime soon. So why not give the GH2 the same features as the new A77. Panasonic has said that the GH2 is still selling well even though its price is roughly unchanged for the body only. They could charge $100 for a firmware update and give us 1080p @ 60 FPS and PAL users 25p and I guarantee it would keep the GH2 selling well into next year.

1080p @ 60 FPS is probably not as useful as we had hoped it would be. However, I wouldn't mind paying $100 to try it out.

Can the GH1 go faster than 60 fps? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/251/can-the-gh1-go-faster-than-60-fps Sun, 19 Jun 2011 05:46:39 +0000 jefforig 251@/talks/discussions Is it possible to speed up the fps faster than 60 fps in the GH1?

Is there a patch out there I can load?
Anyone have luck with this?

@Lpowell have you experimented with this? I would be interested to know your findings.

Plus, I am not talking about using Twixtor, Optical Flow, or After Effects. I want true in-camera speed. Then I can manipulate later with software.

Thanks.]]>
