I shot something today, quite a long take- and sadly the third-party battery I had to use died on me.

It was a second camera from some streetcomedy, so no reshooting there..

I did not use the card afterwards. Now the File is not on the card.

Are there any methods aside from hdd recovery tools? I tried EASEUS Data recovery Wizard, no luck.

Problems with .MTS in Mac https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7661/problems-with-.mts-in-mac Thu, 01 Aug 2013 22:46:03 +0000 Manu4Vendetta 7661@/talks/discussions A partern shot a short film with my camera, once fill the cards I have copied the files to an external drive.

Today she tells me that when he was editing the Final Cut dont recognize the files and not allow you to import. I dont have idea who it could be, before I used FC and Premiere on Mac without problems. On my computer (Windows) I can see the files.

Any suggestions for the Final Cut to recognize them?

Thanks!

SD and HD (720 and 1080) bitrates for download files https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6265/sd-and-hd-720-and-1080-bitrates-for-download-files Wed, 27 Feb 2013 05:42:33 +0000 AKED 6265@/talks/discussions Hi I have a question I wiuldlike to get some advise: I produce instructional video since 25 years. First S-VHS, then MII, (source S-VHS, DV later MII) and now HD with first HVX200 and now with GH1, 2 and 3 cameras.

Now I wat to offer my products as download files in .mp4 format.

Now one has to try to find the oprimum bitrate setting, to keep the quality as good as possible for the customer and, on the other hand, keep the files as small as possible, to make the download shorter. I know both contradict each other. The smaller the worse quality etc.

Now what bitrate would you suggest for

SD 4:3 SD 16:9 HD 720 HD1980

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Avchd file copy question https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2260/avchd-file-copy-question Sun, 12 Feb 2012 18:14:01 +0000 donf 2260@/talks/discussions On my Gh2 flash memory I see that the avchd files are down in some directories under /private. It also appears that there are some kind of index files in another subdirectory. If I want to delete/manage the files thru a flash reader (not with my camera) do I need to manage several files or can I just work with what appears to be the avchd files(the large ones) or do I need to manage other related files too? Another way of asking this is to say can I just copy 1 avchd file like I copy my *.jpg files to my pc?

I've googled this and not had any success.

Recover files from card with error https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3537/recover-files-from-card-with-error Sun, 10 Jun 2012 22:15:49 +0000 charlie_orozco 3537@/talks/discussions Hi. I come to you to ask for help, because I feel very frustrated. I have two Sandisk Extreme 32GB 45MBps SDHC cards, and today I was trying to copy the video files of a shoot I had yesterday, and the card started disconnecting quite often (it was plugged into an external card reader). With various retryings I was able to copy only 6 out of 25 (11GB in total) before the card threw me an error message saying that the card needed formatting. I then got tired and decided to copy the files using the camera, but when I turned it on it told me that the camera needed formatting as well. This never happened to me. I became a little desperate and downloaded the program that the card comes from (it's a one year license code that allows you to download and use RescuePRO Deluxe). I used the program and it recoverd 15,000 M2TS video files, all of them a single frame for only the first two videos (or so it seemed) that weighed almost 30GB. I then formatted the card using the camera and tried again. I formatted many times (it's been 4 or 5 hours now) and the best I could get were the full first two videos, almost by chance, and the ones that matter are the 3 last ones... Now the program shows an error saying that it couldn't recover any files because maybe the formatting added 0 (zeros) instead of the old data, and so it may be lost. But when I try again it recovers more files. Although now they can't be read. Is it getting worse eveytime? Is there no way to recover the files? Can you recommend another program that could work for me? I need this data by the end of the week when the job is due, and I feel desperate. It's kind of a documentary, so I can't shoot this footage for a second time... If you can help me I'll be truly thankful. Best regards.

GH2: video metadata? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3081/gh2-video-metadata Wed, 02 May 2012 11:50:52 +0000 LongJohnSilver 3081@/talks/discussions Hi,

recently I realized that Canon and Nikon include some metadata on their video files. Something like EXIF data.

Is there anything similar on GH2 files?

Bye

"bad file name, camera won't be able to read such a file" https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2445/bad-file-name-camera-wont-be-able-to-read-such-a-file Wed, 29 Feb 2012 18:15:22 +0000 yarlanz 2445@/talks/discussions Some people, like me, have experienced a problem: Being unable to save the hacked firmware for their GH1 (or GH2, I assume) with Ptool, because it just keeps insisting that "bad file name, camera won't be able to read such a file". This, even if the naming follows the rules exactly (in the vein of GH1__133.bin), and nothing seems to help.

I do not know if anybody has reported the solution before, at least I could not find one here or the rest of the internet, but I faced this problem today and eventually found a fix.

The solution is that the SOURCE firmware, the one you load at the beginning, needs to be correctly named as well. When the problem happened to me, I had made a copy/paste duplicate of the very original Panasonic firmware that I had downloaded from the internet. This had resulted to a source filename "GH1__132 - Copy.bin"

One would imagine that it makes no difference, as PTool requests the user to give a name when saving and that is the only thing that has to pass the validity check. However, for some reason the original filename, probably "-" or " " character, echoes the saving procedure and the validity test is failed. For instance, when I finally tested renaming the source firmware first back to "GH1__132.bin and then saving it with the name"GH1__133.bin", it was suddenly again very acceptable name and finally got my hacked firmware saved.

File-transfer Workflow with Gh13: do I need PhotoFun software at all? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1430/file-transfer-workflow-with-gh13-do-i-need-photofun-software-at-all Sat, 12 Nov 2011 08:16:20 +0000 kronstadt 1430@/talks/discussions I want to ask you about your file-transfer and editing workflow.

When I bought the body of GH1, it came with this REALLY-REALLY annoying software called "PhotoFunStudio". It occupies 364mb on my computer (which doesn't have much breathing space) and frankly, I still don't understand what is it for??? Is there any particular purpose why I might need it, like "correct" file transfer or the "correct" deletion of video and photo files??? Do I need it at all??? Or shall I just uninstall it?

I noticed that when i shoot in AVCHD, my .MTS files are not time-coded. Do I need "PhotoFunStudio" to time-code them?

Here is my workflow. If you see any mistakes or have any suggestions, please tell me.
Sometimes I use my GH13 for taking photos, but primarily for making movies. I use GH13 with Blackout-Powell patch, a 5 year old Dell Latitude D820 laptop with 80GB hard-drive and 3.25GB of RAM, 3TB external HDD, Win XP SP3, Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. At the end of the day, I take out the SD card and put it into a USB-card-reader and put it into my laptop. Then I navigate to PRIVATE/AVCHD/BDMV/STREAM , select all .MTS files and move them to my external HDD for editing later in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4. Then, I safely remove the SD card, put it back into GH13 and delete all files (sometimes I format the whole card). When I edit with Premiere Pro CS4, I just drag-n-drop the .MTS files (without timecoding) from my external HDD into the bin and edit away.

Any ideas, suggestions, reflections, would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks!]]>
