I am looking for PVer's opinions on the various parallax systems for sliders that are (or used to be) available.

Since I don't have an existing slider, I could either go with an all-in-one unit or an add on unit. The cheap add-on units from Neweer have mostly disappeared off eBay and Amazon. If anyone has one for sale, let me know, I could buy @aksels slider in the market place and add it on!

Ideally I am looking for something I can get in 2 weeks time, ca. 120cm long, quiet for sound recording, smooth (roller bearings are best?) can utilize a 2nd tripod for stability, and that works reasonably well for medium and close shots of an interviewee). At this budget level, I don't expect perfection, but, want to strive for it as always :-) .

Can one take noisy bearings apart and try to re-grease them, if loud?

Are there any DIY's you could recommend for this parallax add-on? Here's a complicated design DIY:

-I don't have that much time, lol.

Design examples:

Neweer 120cm add-on: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00NW9SBRU/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00NW9SBRU&linkCode=as2&tag=hyperlapsed-20&linkId=VCYBCGBQ4SLETTX5%3C/span%3E

Konova 120 cm add-on: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QLJULOE/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B00QLJULOE&linkCode=as2&tag=hyperlapsed-20&linkId=YRFKPOJWA647PXVQ%3C/span%3E

All-in-one (looks like a Rhino "inspired" design): https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/ASHANKS-A120A-120cm-Carbon-Fiber-Track-Slider-Adjustable-Angle-Tube-Follow-Focus-Pan-for-Stabilizer-DV/1970333_32670908629.html

Also available directly from CAME-TV. Just emailed them about availability. http://www.came-tv.com/cametv-camera-slider-carbon-fiber-120cm-lightweight-gp120q-p-732.html

-If no one can sell me a parallax add-on, this might be my only choice for a 120cm model, due to my time limitation.

Same design here: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1210956-REG/came_tv_gp_120q_1_gp_120q_lightweight_carbon_fiber.html

Fixed designs. CON: Subject must be distance X away from camera to get optimal effect: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1237083-REG/alzo_1639_smoothy_radius_and_linear.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1078663-REG/promediagear_vs32_pmg_duo_32_video_slider.html

And I won't list the one-man-band design from Redrock due to $$$.

Have I missed any others?

I am sure Kessler got all the rip-off designs off the market or these things didn't really work that well -and that's why there are so few around today…?

Your thoughts please!

Using GH4 + Shogun for commercial greenscreen production - Our experience https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16580/using-gh4-shogun-for-commercial-greenscreen-production-our-experience Sat, 11 Mar 2017 00:50:21 +0000 Chris74 16580@/talks/discussions I am usually just consuming content on this excellent forum, so I thought it's time to give something back.

We just finished a commercial film production and thought I share some insights on why we have chosen to shoot this with the GH4. Our key requirements have been

  1. 10Bit 4k capability (greenscreen project!)
  2. Light weight (we had challeging camera angles and limited budget for rigging => e.g. birdeye shots with shitty rig)
  3. Long battery life (we didn't want to add external battery solutions => our rig had very low weight limitations)
  4. Problem free (e.g. no overheating)

So after long discussions choosing between Sony A7s II and GH4, we decided to use the latter one and I don't regret this decision.

We had a lot of challenges but they have not been regarding camera choice, more related to the customers corporate colors (yellow turning green in shadows) and lighting the massive greenscreen. The only real challenge on the GH4 for us was the shitty HDMI port but we solved that with adding a Zacuto Port Protector (without that, it would have been a nightmare!).

But judge for yourself, feedback welcome! (note: the project required massive effort in post production)

The CGI and VFX thread! https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/857/the-cgi-and-vfx-thread Mon, 05 Sep 2011 03:35:45 +0000 bwhitz 857@/talks/discussions
Here's a concept I'm putting together for a CG intensive short I'm doing... anyone want to share experiences with this stuff? Anyone used Nuke for composting and VFX?

Any GH2 aerial footage I could "barrow"? ;)

Anyone else have any work they'd like to share?

Music video on GH2 (FlowMotion) https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11588/music-video-on-gh2-flowmotion Sat, 18 Oct 2014 14:41:17 +0000 hempo22 11588@/talks/discussions My director's cut of a music video I did last year. The artist ran me over completely in post and the official video is (in my opinion) at best at the level of a rough cut, she didn't even want color correction. VFX was also out the window.

So here is my intended version of the video that we agreed upon. Shot on GH2 with Flowmotion and Nikkor AI and AI-S lenses, edited in FCPX and graded in Resolve.

"Disappearing effect" in Music Clip https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/5958/disappearing-effect-in-music-clip Wed, 30 Jan 2013 10:46:17 +0000 Dubidu 5958@/talks/discussions Hello Everyone I recently saw Two Door Cinema Club's newest Music clip. It's called "sun" here's the link.

In this clip they're using a very confusing disappearing effect. Turns out I shoot a music clip my own in two weeks and I could use this effect too. Has anyone an Idea how they do it? I thought maybe they used green screen towels. But they're also using the effect in moving shots, so they actually had to film two times exactly the same camera movement to make it work, right ? Thanks for your answers :)
