I only wish more movies were shot this way. There was no CGI, or ridiculous un-motivated shots to stimulate the dumbed down unappreciative masses. Nope, just good old cinema at it's best, where shot composition, natural lighting, and film stock are used as a tool to tell the story and create a feel unmatched by silly computer generated effects, even though the majority of the film was shot on the Arri Alexa. However, when the s16 made it's appearance, it worked wonderfully well to convey time change and a feeling of saddened loneliness. The acting was also fantastically convincing, there's no silicone injected duck lip plastic people with bleached white Chiclet teeth and a side of Botox, really, It didn't need the Hollywood glamour and all the façade that goes with. The acting, cinematography and script was more than adequate to tell this story. My only critique was the scoring, don't get me wrong, it's not that it was bad, I just feel it didn't convey as much emotion as it could have, of course it's subjective and being that I'm life long musician, I tend to be somewhat critical. Others may disagree. In closing, If you want to kill a couple hrs. and gorge yourself with some cinematic eye candy, it's well worth the price of admission and a box of popcorn.

We need a DP for 2-3 days https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8238/we-need-a-dp-for-2-3-days Wed, 25 Sep 2013 17:20:36 +0000 matt_gh2 8238@/talks/discussions This may be a cool opportunity for someone in MD or neaby area. We've completed 90% of our feature film shoot, but our DP is ill and recovering. We need someone who can DP the remaining few scenes. It's a paid position. You don't need a long resume...you just need to be good. So if you're interested PM with a link to what you've done, and best way to contact you. We have all the equipment needed - we just need your artistry and good eye.

FS: Fotga Follow Focus, Seetec Monitor, and More https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8063/fs-fotga-follow-focus-seetec-monitor-and-more Tue, 10 Sep 2013 10:43:00 +0000 matt_gh2 8063@/talks/discussions I'm selling a few things that aren't being used on my current film project. When preparing for this current shoot and when buying gear, I bought a few things that the DP didn't use. Everything is in perfect condition and was only used indoors once or twice to test when I received them. They were all purchased new within the last 3-6 months.

  1. Fotga DP2 Follow Focus with 2 Hard Stops. I also bought the Fotga Quick Release Slide Block Clamp for 15mm rail rods, which makes it 100 times faster & easier to remove the follow focus from your rig. I also have a Cinevate follow focus gear ring. I'm selling these 3 as a set for $199, with free shipping in US.

  2. Seetec 5.6" Monitor with 1280x800 panel resolution. This is the same one from our Personal-view.com deals, and that's where I purchased it new from. I also have 2 Sony NP-F770 batteries. These batteries currently go for $79.99 each on B&H. I'm selling the monitor and batteries as a set for $349, with free shipping in US.

  3. Rosco 730011 Polarizing Sheet 17" x 20". $35, with free shipping in the US.

Thanks, Matt
