Best way to make 2,35:1 markings on display? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4446/best-way-to-make-2351-markings-on-display Sat, 01 Sep 2012 12:55:04 +0000 fatpig 4446@/talks/discussions Hi Guys,

I was just wondering which methods some of you may have to make markings on your display (or even external monitor) for guidance for framing cinema aspect ratio?

The Guide lines sadly can not have two horizontal bars as far as i know of.. I was hoping the hack would introduce some type of marking somewhere down the line- but since that does not seem to be possible, lets hear your method :)

Thanks guys

Custom picture profiles question https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3712/custom-picture-profiles-question Wed, 27 Jun 2012 20:20:47 +0000 JPB1138 3712@/talks/discussions Just looking for information, from anyone who has been working on a hack to get at the picture profiles (smooth, cinema, etc.) to try and get something FLATTER like a technicolor cinestyle preset on canon, or even like the Cine-D setting on the AF100. I'd love to see a flat setting like that. Had a rough shoot this past weekend near sunset, just a lot of shadows mixed with a lot of highlights, and im sure a lot of others have had similar issues. I used to own an AF100 and the only two things I miss are the 1080p variable frame-rates and the flat cinema-D look.

If anyone has any new info on this feel free to comment. I'd love to see this get done as the next frontier of the hack. I just don't know if its possible or if anyone is even working on it...

Conforming MJPEGs to 25p with Cinema Tools produces files that FCP won't import. Any other workflow? https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/3544/conforming-mjpegs-to-25p-with-cinema-tools-produces-files-that-fcp-wont-import.-any-other-workflow Mon, 11 Jun 2012 08:28:24 +0000 ickejohannes 3544@/talks/discussions Sorry if this has already been answered, I've been searching the forum but so far without finding a solution.

I'm trying to get MJPEGs from the GH2 to play at 25 (or 24) fps for a slight slow-motion effect. However when I conform the clips with Cinema Tools, the resulting files cannot be imported in FCP, as I get the error "File Error: Unknown File".

Does anyone know what the problem is or could help me out with an alternative workflow to get FCP to playback the MJPEGs at 24 or 25fps?

Canon EOS 1D-C. is it worth it (MJPEG@4K + $15,000) https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2879/canon-eos-1d-c.-is-it-worth-it-mjpeg4k-15000- Sun, 15 Apr 2012 23:41:54 +0000 TrackZillas 2879@/talks/discussions I would like to know your thoughts about the new Canon EOS 1D-C. Is it worth the buy? Yeah!!! sure 4K on a DLSR is impressive, but MJPEG compression 8bit 422 squeezing all that information took a good amount of compression. Why not 2k Raw 12bit 444 instead? Let me know also what you feel about the price point... would you pay $15,000?

Short film shot with GH2 + Lomo cinema lenses https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/2217/short-film-shot-with-gh2-lomo-cinema-lenses Wed, 08 Feb 2012 00:57:53 +0000 ed_lee83 2217@/talks/discussions I know a few peeps here are fans of Lomo lenses (and some are also selling them on here), so I've finally been able to upload a short I DP'ed last year shot here in Hong Kong with the GH2 (unhacked!), filmed entirely with Lomo OCT-19 glass: Standard speeds 18mm (a bit unsharp here), 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, 37-140. Plus a 35mm T1.4 for the stills used in the short. Unfortunately I couldn't secure the 1080 version, this was a DVD rip. The short is gonna try some other fests so I have to keep it private viewing for now. It's called "This File Cannot Be Deleted" (director's in-joke) and is in Chinese, so it has English subtitles. The story is loose at best, but I'd say most of you would like to see the quality of the lenses. It was showcased at a film festival here and held up very well on the big screen.

Canon Cinema DSLR https://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/1352/canon-cinema-dslr Thu, 03 Nov 2011 21:02:50 +0000 Vitaliy_Kiselev 1352@/talks/discussions

Canon Inc. today announced that the company is developing a new-concept EOS-series digital single-lens reflex (SLR) camera. Incorporating an enhanced version of the video-capture capability offered in the current EOS-series lineup, the new camera will be ideally suited for cinematographic and other digital high-resolution production applications. The model will be equipped with a 35 mm full-frame CMOS sensor and, enabling the recording of 4K video* (at a frame rate of 24P, with Motion-JPEG compression), will make possible the type of exceptional image quality and sublime imaging expression to be expected from the next generation of "EOS Movies."

The announcement coincides with the launch of the Cinema EOS System, marking Canon's full-fledged entry into the digital high-resolution production industry. The new professional digital cinematography system spans the lens, digital cinema camera and digital SLR camera product categories.

Further details regarding the new EOS digital SLR camera currently under development, including the product name, specifications and scheduled launch date, have yet to be decided.

* Cropped to APS-H-equivalent size (dimensions measuring approximately 80% vertically and horizontally of a 35 mm full-frame sensor) when recording in 4K.
