First paid gig with the GH3
  • This is the first paid gig I have gotten a chance to use my GH3 on so was really excited to get out and see how it performed.

Overall I was really happy with how it handled the shoot from being on a crane, steadicam, handheld, and tripod.

The only problem I had which was my own fault, was that I left "continuous autofocus" turned on even though I was on the manual focus setting and it did hunt a few times. I have since turned it off.

  • well done! keep going!

  • Way to go!!!
If I may say, this foot...age would benefit from a bit of colouring, that is just my opinion.
The little - how do you say "portería" in english? - was too cute
First of many 4 sure =)

  • Thank you very much @yannis_zach ! Much appreciated!

And to @maxr , I would have loved to spend the time colouring the footage but the footage is quite grainy and was shot on the avchd codec so falls apart with colouring of course. It was for a non profit organization so I did an inexpensive job by taking out things like colouring and major editing.

  • Cool video. I like the angles you used and how you got in close with the action.

  • Thanks @matt_gh2 ! It was my first shoot using a merlin steadicam and I will say got LUCKY with getting it balanced so quickly I think haha. It was definitely a blast to be able to get such smooth footage with the gh3 moving that quickly!

  • @tylerknight the last thing I want it is to make any less sweet the taste of this your "first paid gig with the gh3"

Now, almost everything I ever graded was originaly shot in AVCHD, sometimes with really low bit rates; of course material is always right and the pushing & pulling limited. Nevertheless with only one camera (model) and stable lighting situation like this one^1, you'll be able to grade 1min in no time. I'm not a specialist, far away from it, but that doesn't stop me of doing and learning. Truly no BS here.
If you want, next time I can grade for/with you, no charge, as long as same ^1 conditions and non profit ;-)

I appreciate the honesty! And absolutely I normally colour correct all of my footage but I felt for a quick turnaround there was no need on this but I would definitely take you up on that offer on a future project for sure! Along with my paid work I do a lot of pro-bono with local charities and non-profits.

  • I be so afraid to walk onto the pitch with any camera. Man, you cant move faster than the ball when it hits you

  • @kazuo It was a set up shoot at least! It wasn't just me running into a game trying to get shots, we tried to set up some rough ideas to make it easier
