Digital Noise in Blue Sky - Vanilla Hack
  • Hey all -

Wanted to throw this out to the community and see if there were any thoughts. Going through footage from this weekend's blue sky shoot, and on top of the expected mild posterization, I'm seeing some subtle but noticeable digital noise.

Any thoughts? Here are the specs:

    GH2 running Vanilla Hack Firmware V1.1 ISO 160 Nostalgic -2, -2, 0, -1

It was very bright light, but properly exposed with an ND / Polarizing filter.

    Thanks, Matt

  • +1 on Nostalgic. The sky's pretty dark, and Nostalgic lifts shadows, which also lifts the noise in them. Neat Video would have no problem removing that, without affecting detail in whatever the rest of the scene contains.

  • Thanks gents. What is your recommended setting? The distortion appears very mild in this shot, but it is very apparent in motion. Here's another frame from this shoot btw. I'll post the final link when its done.
