"Lighting" in post with light-fixture emulation

I'm not talking about color correction which assumes that the DP shot with controlled lighting ratios, but actual lighting emulation, with a choice of controllable lighting instruments, for material which was shot with available light or haphazardly.

PPro has one filter with a subset of 5 controllable lights (omni, directional, spot), which can produce interesting results -- better than the original footage, anyway -- but I'm wondering if there are any dedicated plugins or packages with more control or options?

Anybody?

Launches tomorrow and a very ambitious project from Kramer and crew. Not my area of expertise, but looks like a great way to work with 3D objects in AE, especially for folks who are used to a 2D workflow.

"Disappearing effect" in Music Clip

Hello Everyone I recently saw Two Door Cinema Club's newest Music clip. It's called "sun" here's the link.

In this clip they're using a very confusing disappearing effect. Turns out I shoot a music clip my own in two weeks and I could use this effect too. Has anyone an Idea how they do it? I thought maybe they used green screen towels. But they're also using the effect in moving shots, so they actually had to film two times exactly the same camera movement to make it work, right ? Thanks for your answers :)

Magic Bullet's "Tempo" short film

I had the pleasure of attending a screening of Magic Bullet's "Tempo" short film tonight, with the director and producer, Seth Worley and Aharon Rabinowitz, who answered questions from the audience.

It was quite interesting hearing about how they put the production together. There's a lot of the budget in the set design and special FX, but also some shots are done with practical effects where you might think it's SFX (such as the bullet through the laptop.) They showed a lot of the behind the scenes and pre-production. The short was quite well done, and of course shows off some of the advanced features of some Magic Bullet products, especially for animating swarm behavior, as well as realistic 3-D explosions and fires. Seth now works full time for Magic Bullet, as a director.

They started production on October 1st, and principal photography took two days at the end of October in Tennessee. SFX and post production took around six weeks.

anyway to achieve this look using multiple layers applying specific effects? or has a plugin been made yet? I'm pretty sure I've seen a music video that somebody did and pulled it off, and I think I seen a program maybe a year ago that was supposed to convert footage to look HDR but from what I can remember it was a joke. I'm looking for more than just vibrant colors, but if I had to guess that would be one of the processes of doing it yourself with multiple layers.

Creating a 3D Space in Apple Motion

Well, this has taken about a day to understand and create -- all for 9 seconds. Basically I needed to get across the idea of a detection zone in a room being a configurable item.

I created three walls in Apple motion, then added a camera and a light. Once I could see the spotlighted area I used a ring with a thick border to act as the control over the detection area.

Anyway the results are about 20 seconds into this video:

slowmoVideo is an OpenSource program that creates slow-motion videos from your footage.

But it does not simply make your videos play at 0.01× speed. You can smoothly slow down and speed up your footage, optionally with motion blur.

How does slow motion work? slowmoVideo tries to find out where pixels move in the video (this information is called Optical Flow), and then uses this information to calculate the additional frames.

I need to do some old style computer backdrops for a client... Do you know of/come across in your time any filter which can do max headroom style wireframe lines and cubes quickly and effectively/ does anyone have any? - I need 2 mins of backdrops.

Fire effects

I have this vid of a violinist and I would like to add some flames coming out of the violin at the end of the video where the music gets fast, sort of a riff on Witches of Eastwick. Does anyone know of a plugin for premiere pro that will do this, or do I have to video some fire and track it in? TIA.
