Want to Go to Sundance? Better Be Vaxxed

It's been a hard year for festivals, and this might be one way to get back to normal. Although it's been nice to see innovation from festivals like Sundance and SXSW, which went fully online in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and opened their platforms to much wider audiences, there's also no replacing the festival experience. I'm sure a lot of us miss sharing the excitement of sitting in a dark auditorium and experiencing a new film for the first time. Today, Sundance Film Festival Director Tabitha Jackson announced that the upcoming Sundance Film Festival, scheduled for January 20-30, 2022, will require in-person attendees of the festival and affiliated events to be fully vaccinated. "We will share our full details and processes for health precautions closer to the Festival, including theater capacity along with information on mask-wearing," Jackson writes. "We will continue to assess other elements of health and safety protocols regularly and in accordance with best practices." The 2022 festival will also continue to hold screenings online.
