Details:

We shot this using two GH2s and varied between the Voigt 25mm, a Nikkor 50mm f1.4, and the stock panny 14-42mm kit lens (wide interiors). The patches we used were older versions of the Nebula pactch (GOP6 I believe Cluster X series 1) and the series one version of Moon (maybe even T5), not quite sure.

Anyway, thought I'd share and just like to say thank you to this wonderful community, even if I've only been lurking lately (corporate life has a way of doing that, but that should be changing soon).

This muddy "old" video is a mix of:

• A very personal/biographic collection of stills taken in Czech Republic, Spain and Portugal between 2006 and 2007

• Plus a tweaked version of Gertrude Stein's Family Living can go on existing a text extracted from her The Making of Americans book together with a shakuhachi flute (unfortunately can't remember neither song or performer's name) as SOUNDTRACK

• And still my own poem Algalia all mixed up directly in Quicktime

If this is the case for $ 150 dollars you would get a reflector bulb/ballast socket system that would yield about the power of a 1500/2000 watt tungsten light in little overcast cloudy kelvin (6500k) that can be gelled easily with little power loss to 5600. Hard light that can be shaped much more than any soft light.

I always liked better the allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed version, so here's what I propose:

Anyone registered in PV can participate, just has to post a reply - so everything's transparent - and send me a private message, for email and download details. Order of participation will be same as registration.

Each participant will have 3 days to make a new shot, we're not recycling footage… is a question of experimentation process and flow ;)
there will be a max of 1 hour over the deadline. After that I'll unmercifully jump to next in list.

I'll take the dealer part, receiving the files and sending to next participant just the last (previous) one.

IF failing deadline or any of the below rules, I'll go on with next in list… nothing personal but pragmatism.

Resulting mess will be under Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs

I use my GF1 + firmware hack since more than 6 months, it's great, congratulations :)

I have the following problem :

• Set "Mode A" for video

• Shut down the camera

• Power on the camera

• The "Mode A" setting for video is forgotten! The only way for having "Mode A" for video again is : go in the menu, set ANOTHER mode , e.g. "Mode P" for video, and THEN go in the menu again and set "Mode A" for video again.

I know somebody else having the same problem, with the same camera.

Who should I contact about this little bug?

Is there any free stuff also, like free sound libraries?

My other question is, if you find video footage from TV or from the net, how are the rules, is it free to use for example in a documentary up to certain amount of seconds?

I'm still developing/experimenting a workflow I feel good about: one within the tools I have and know, that delivers quality enough and time wise optimized.

It's a mixture of video and time-lapse of the Forth road and rail bridges around Edinburgh in Scotland. Initially I was just using it as a learning exercise about the GH3, but the bridge folks liked it themselves and started using it.

There are some dust bunnies in there, but I have learned not to go beyond F16 these days

I managed to get 510 feet up to the top of the Forth road bridge, but the barriers were moving so much my timelapse photo's were all blurred, so it's only shaky video footage from the top (I will take a proper tripod up next time)

I won't make some big marketing push for why mine would be better than anybody else's - in the last decade and a half of working with software FX I've learned there are a lots of ways to make things sound great. I also won't make any money off of this so there would be no point. :) But I do want to make it as easy as possible for people that aren't used to dealing with EQ to get a good sound.

Now here's the part where you come in. The tricky part of making presets is that they have to be widely usable. I'll be making these on a Windows machine (I spend more time in Windows than OS X) so whatever plug-in I make them for will need to work in that environment. I am thinking I would like to use the free ReaPlugs suite from Cockos, but my question is whether people would prefer that I use those or the ones native to Reaper itself?

If I use the ones internal to Reaper, then I seem to remember they may also work on OS X. But if I use the ReaPlugs suite, they will work in any host but Windows only.

So, which version would you guys prefer? Feel free to suggest other free plug-ins or other microphones you would like covered. I'm open to doing the same thing for the GH3 if there's sufficient interest.

I got a Panasonic GF2 and have some trouble with the analog video output. I want to use the output to preview video during recording. I already found that you can enable the live output by pressing Q.MENU for some seconds. This works fine for capturing stilts, but if you start recording a video, the output shows only black as long as you record the video. After stopping recording, you have normal output again.

I think this is just a firmware restriction that can be removed! Any suggestions?

And I really need the analog output all the time, because I want to operate the camera remotecontrolled and get the preview via an analog video transmitter.

Thanks to Vitaliy and everyone on this site for making it possible for us all to go out and shoot quality stuff that will hopefully reflect well the efforts and sense of community that you can find only here.

on mac you should install it in :/System/Library/Components

AE and Premiere now are able to export in this high quality codec at half the size of quicktime's Uncompressed 10bit.

VLC can't read UT because it doesn't use system components, but here you can find an update for vlc to register UT and some other video codecs. I don't know how to apply this register to VLC, so if anyone knows, your help is welcomed.

UT is helpful also if your thinking of using the new windmotion conversion tool across PC and mac platforms.

This is the FAQ to read if you're trying to read the forums, and finding a lot of technical stuff and acronyms that are going right over your head. It won't make you design hacks as good as Driftwood's or Sanity or Cake, and it won't tell you which hack is the best one to use. I've heard, that GH3 can record in 4K 20 frames per second and memory card capable to store 95 Mb/s. Therefore if we narrow size to 16mm (10.6mm x 6mm) is it possible to record RAW video?

In video mode replace exposure numbers with rotary disc shutter angle: 1/32 = 270° (?) | 1/48 = 180° (add) | 1/50 = 172.8° | 1/60 = 144°; | 1/96 = 90° (add) | 1/120 = 72° (add)

Add Frame Line - The aspect ratio frame  1.85:1 (35mm theatrical), 2.35:1 (Cinemascope)
