Kenko Tokina USA, Inc. is excited to announce the new Tokina AT-X 24-70mm F/2.8 PRO FX lens designed for use with Canon and Nikon full-frame sensor DSLR cameras.

Tokina’s latest addition to its family gives full-frame photographers a 24mm wide-angle to 70mm moderate telephoto lens with a fast F/2.8 aperture at an affordable price.

The new groundbreaking proprietary optical design uses three precision molded all-glass aspherical lens elements to achieve excellent contrast, sharpness, and corrects for spherical aberrations. One of these elements is very special and difficult to manufacture. G09, is made from Super-Low Dispersion (SD) glass and is a large sized aspherical element.

These lens elements also yield even illumination across the whole image sensor.

The Tokina 24-70MM lens also uses three SD (super-low Dispersion, “FK01” and FK03”) glass elements in the rear groups to control chromatic aberrations. All these specialized lens elements work in consort to yield maximum resolution to match the 50-megapixel DSLR cameras entering the market.

The fast constant F/2.8 aperture makes viewing and auto focusing possible in very low light situations while keeping some flexibility for setting the shutter speed. In addition to excellent optics, the lens incorporates a fast moving SDM (Silent Drive-Module) motor to greatly reduce AF noise making it one of Tokina’s quickest and quietest auto-focusing lenses to date.

Tokina’s exclusive One-touch Focus Clutch Mechanism allows the photographer to switch between AF and MF simply by snapping the focus ring forward for AF and back toward the lens mount for manual focusing. The lens is also designed to stand up to the rigors of daily use by photographers in a wide variety of shooting conditions and environments.

I'm buying the Tokina 11mm - 16mm f/2.8 with the Nikon mount to use it with the GH2 and after July with the BMC for the GH2.

Would it be any pros and cons buying the Canon mount EF instead, which will be mount native for the BMC?

Thanks in advance.

Lenses for GH4 on Zhiyun Crane? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/16576/lenses-for-gh4-on-zhiyun-crane Fri, 10 Mar 2017 15:48:26 +0000 IS2 16576@/talks/discussions Hi all,

I've been super on the fence between getting a Ronin M or a Zhiyun Crane. I think I'm leaning towards the crane because it's much more portable realistically enabling more shooting freedom.

I know I unfortunately won't be able to use my lovely Sigma 18-35mm due to the size, so was wondering - which lenses do you all use on your GH4/crane set up and for what scenarios?

GH2 Stills Problem http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/15933/gh2-stills-problem Mon, 24 Oct 2016 13:00:10 +0000 jondshank 15933@/talks/discussions Recently I started taking stills with my gh2 in addition to using it for it's AMAZING video.

When I manually focus, whether through the LCD or LVF just before the image is in focus to my eye it looks soft and dreamy more so than out of focus, and beyond the subject it will start to actually look out of focus.

I took some when it actually looked IN FOCUS and I feel like it just doesn't look as sharp as my old Canon 60D (By quite a bit to be honest)

I'll post a picture so you can see. I shot this in manual, f/2.8 at 70mm on a tripod with around 160 shutter speed and 200ISO. I'll post a before and after grade.

Before: http://imgur.com/a/H3bPw

After: http://imgur.com/JjxF8ZD

Do you think this is an operator, lens, or camera problem?

Also please do critique my grade, I'm relatively new to all this.

Low price zoom with medium-long focus throw? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13178/low-price-zoom-with-medium-long-focus-throw Mon, 15 Jun 2015 14:47:38 +0000 joethepro 13178@/talks/discussions Looking for a normal zoom like the Tamron 17-50, Tokina 28-70, or something along those lines that has a focus throw longer than ~45 degrees. Pisses me off that so many low priced zooms now have such ridiculously short focus throws. Are there any that I should look into?

Samyang 10mm F2.8 EF Mount+ Speedbooster or SLR MAGIC 12mm T1.6mm mft http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12981/samyang-10mm-f2.8-ef-mount-speedbooster-or-slr-magic-12mm-t1.6mm-mft Wed, 13 May 2015 02:27:32 +0000 club_irate 12981@/talks/discussions I have a GH2 and will be getting a GH4 soon. I have the SLR Magic 12mm lens with me which is a 24mm equiv on the GH2 and will be 28mm on the GH4 in 4K mode. The samyang with the SB will be wider (14mm on the GH2 with SB & 16mm on the GH4 in 4K mode and will be a F2).

Which out of the 2 is the better lens? I have the option of selling the SLR Magic to a film maker i know and the Samyang costs roundabout the same as what i am selling the 12mm for.

Kindly advice.

P.S- I have been recommended to go for the Samyang compared to a Tokina 11-16mm (EF) as they said It's sharper and has better CA control. Views on this.

Tokina 11-16mm Focus Ring jams? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11727/tokina-11-16mm-focus-ring-jams Sat, 08 Nov 2014 09:18:08 +0000 _gl 11727@/talks/discussions I've got the old Tokina 11-16mn "DX" version (silver markings) and just bought a new DX II version (gold).

On the new one, the focus ring gets frequently stuck when pulling it to MF, I'd say about 1/8 times. It basically sometimes doesn't pull down all the way in one place, and then locks the whole mechanism (AF motor isn't disengaged). If you then try to turn it, it fights the AF motor. That never happens on my old DX version, but I'm on my 2nd DX II with the same problem.

Is that normal for the DX IIs or have I got 2 duff ones in a row?
