First Paid work with the GH3 - Jan Wheeler: Canadian Wilderness Artist http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/9616/first-paid-work-with-the-gh3-jan-wheeler-canadian-wilderness-artist Thu, 13 Feb 2014 17:28:05 +0000 tylerknight 9616@/talks/discussions Last fall, I picked up the GH3 after owning the GH1 and GH2.

This is a promotional video I was hired to shoot for Canadian Wilderness Artist, Jan Wheeler.

The entire video was shot with the GH3, RJ Lens Turbo FD-M4/3, Canon FD 50mm f1.4, Canon FD 24mm F2.8 S.S.C. & Konova 24" Slider.

This was also the first shoot with my new RJ Lens Turbo and it performed AMAZINGLY as you can see!

'Graded' with film convert pro 2.

Speedbooster GH2 with CC30M sensor mod - Fishing Trip http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8113/speedbooster-gh2-with-cc30m-sensor-mod-fishing-trip- Sat, 14 Sep 2013 23:28:47 +0000 pchristoph 8113@/talks/discussions
Family fishing trip I shot a few days ago. It was totally improvised. I didn't know the location or what I'd be able to capture until we arrived. Shoots like this are fun - you have to think quickly about how to develop the story with what you're given. I wanted to share this with you guys as it was my first shoot that I can post where I used the c/y speedbooster. Great piece of gear. I've shot a couple commercials this summer with it as well - but they are not public yet. I used a c/y to m42 adapter which worked flawlessly with my 35mm f2, 50mm macro f4, and 135mm f2.5 lenses. Shot using smooth all -2, and on a monopod 561hdv, and a mini hi hat with a manfrotto ball head. Edited and graded in fcpx. I'm also using a Lee CC30M gel cut and fixed in front of the sensor to give me a more even color distribution of RGB. (You must manually white balance when doing this, but I always do anyways.) Utilizing a CC30M gel is an effective form of pre grading your footage before it hits the sensor. I've tested this out all summer and credit Aki Hartikainen whose initial tests with the gh1 sparked my curiosity for experimenting with getting rid of the gh2 green cast and better post grading using this method.

Still Master Vodka - Take A Moment http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/8449/still-master-vodka-take-a-moment Wed, 16 Oct 2013 17:13:42 +0000 pchristoph 8449@/talks/discussions
This was a fun commercial I shot at the end of August for a new product line of Canadian Vodka from Shelter Point Distillery. The clients have great personalities and it is rewarding to build relationships with people who trust my work and ideas. I think together we are developing a good brand that represents who they are. That sandbar is over 600ft from shore. It was a chore to get all our gear there at low tide. At high tide, we used row boats to cart everything back though. Coordinating the time of day for the shoot with the tides in and out for shots was tricky. It made me glad I am a sailor and knew how to read tide and current tables during preproduction! The aerial shot at the end was captured using an octocopter by Duane over at AboveGroundLevel.ca All shots on GH2 (magenta filter in front of sensor) ISO 200, Super Takumar lenses (28mm, 35mm, 50mm macro, 135mm), smooth all -2, Driftwood's Moon Trial 7, Speedbooster, colored and edited in FCPX.

DIY anamorphic speedbooster Idea http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6808/diy-anamorphic-speedbooster-idea Thu, 25 Apr 2013 20:43:07 +0000 lolo 6808@/talks/discussions Hello!, long time no see!!, (if anyone has noted my long absence of this site is because i was highly addicted to it jajajaja i was trying to control myself, as i´m currently working hard...) anyway

here is just an idea, maybe is doable, maybe not, i dont know...

there are ANAMORPHIC PRISMs that are selled for laser beams, they are made of optic glass, and they are as small as to fit inside an adapter this one is only 12mm http://www.ebay.com/itm/230966479114

they work under the following concept: Alt text

so, the question is if they mess too much with the optics and if they are big enough to reach all the light rays?? any thoughts?

Question about FOV and DOF in relation to M43 and metabones speedbooster http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6705/question-about-fov-and-dof-in-relation-to-m43-and-metabones-speedbooster Tue, 16 Apr 2013 07:11:12 +0000 andrevanberlo 6705@/talks/discussions I've seen a questions in the speedbooster topic and saw a similar question in a DPreview thread.

"Has anyone heard if there will be a Speed Booster for m43 LENSES on m43 bodies"

people say it can't be done because the m43 lens is built to cover a m43 sensor and this does seem logical. However (and i'm probably thinking way off here) the m43 has a cropfactor. FF does not. I always thought the FF lenses were so expensive because the entire lens has to be perfect as the entire image falls on the sensor. Where a lens designed for a cropfactor camera needs to be sharp mostly in center and not on the outside as that will not hit the sensor anyway.

So my thought was, if a GH3 has a cropfactor of about 2X, doesn't that mean that part of the total image is cropped? If so then i don't think that question for a m43-m43 speedbooster is such a strange question. As only part of the image actually hits the sensor.

So a speedbooster (i know, probably impossible) would then widen the FOV and increase DOF on m43 lenses and decrease the F-stop.

Off course there will be a lot of vignetting but still when i buy a 50mm lens for m43 that 50mm is what it would be on a full frame camera, we get a cropped version on the m43 camera but the full 50mm image has to be there for us to crop our image from.

In this video they do it the other way around: cropsensor-lens on FF camera

Could someone please explain where i'm wrong in my thinking?
