It has the Flowmotion v2 hack installed. I used this camera for my 2013 documentary series 'Stewards of the Social Environment'. You can head over to my Vimeo channel (Andreas Fulda) and have a look at the six portrays of social enterprises in Europe and China. I am selling it since I am planning to purchase a Nikon D750 as a B-Cam for my C100.

Please note that the viewfinder can come loose. It's not a big issue, since it currently stays in its place. If you want to make sure that it does not come off you may need to glue it carefully. I am selling the GH2 with the Sigma 30mm f2.8 lens, the original Sigma lens case, the original GH2 battery and original charger plus 2 spare batteries. An EOS-M43 adaptor is also part of the package. Price is £140. I am happy to cover shipping costs within the UK.

This sound was not there until last time i had touched my camera (like 10 days back) and updated my Metabones firmware to 2.0 (Could the update be the reason for this iris sound or something else? I have already tried the remove and reattach the lens and the adapter, dint work.

30mm and 35mm lenses choosing, Sigma, Samyang, others http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/4820/30mm-and-35mm-lenses-choosing-sigma-samyang-others Fri, 05 Oct 2012 09:39:11 +0000 RyanPW 4820@/talks/discussions Perhaps this topic has been talked about to death, but I haven't seen a thread on here about it and I figured some of you could convince me one way or the other on which lens I should be getting.

From my standpoint, the Sigma is better at shooting people and has FAR less breathing issues, but it is not as optically perfect as the Samyang, which is far sharper and has no barrel distortion. On the crop of the GH2, the 35mm makes less sense than it does on aps-c and even less than on a 5d (which I find it looks great on). The sigma doesn't have a dedicated aperture ring, but I do have a Novoflex Nikon to m43 adapter, so I'm personally all set to buy the Sigma, if it is ultimately going to be the right move...I know that, while there is a lot of focus breathing involved with the Samyang, and it isn't the best at shooting people in a 'naturalistic' kind of way like the, it does look great as a general composition tool and would probably end up taking optically better photos with.

Right now I have the tamron 17-50 f2.8, a minolta 24mm f2.8 (which I'm thinking about selling dependent on which lens I'm getting), a SMC 50mm and a Nikon 85mm f1.8d. In many ways, I wish I could just buy each of the voigtlanders and call it a day, but alas, I haven't sold any organs on the black market, yet...

How do you guys way in on these two lenses? Do you think there's a lens in this range that I have't considered enough of yet? I'm also thinking of going with the 25mm leica f1.4 and getting the voigtlander 40mm to go with it, but so far I've just been really enamored with both of these lenses. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If anybody can offer suggestions or experience, I would appreciate it. I want to get an end focal length of around 50mm (give or take).

The lenses I am currently considering are:

Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM (art) for Canon EF

Rokinon/Samyang/Bower 35mm T1.5 for EF

If anybody has used those lenses, please offer your opinions. I have been impressed by the Sigma footage I have viewed but understand the Rokinon has stronger qualities for video - however, is very soft at 1.5.

Newbie looking for lenses recommandations http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11316/newbie-looking-for-lenses-recommandations Wed, 17 Sep 2014 15:50:41 +0000 monks19 11316@/talks/discussions Hi. I do some events filming with Lumix cameras (G6 & GH2) using Sigma (Nikon mounts) zoom lenses with RJ adapters. All lenses are at f2.8 max for speed and luminosity. I know that the lowest can go down to f1.4, but I havent been able, so far, to find zoom lenses like this, whatever the brand, especially at a good price (lower than 500 $, used or new).

Does any of you have any recommandations/suggestions on which zoom lenses (whatever the brand, as long as an m43 adapter is avalaible) I should get with my cams (and which adapters, if needed and unavalaible with the RJ m43 ones) ?

Thanks to answer.

Parafocal, Controllable Iris Zooms for m4/3rds http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/11212/parafocal-controllable-iris-zooms-for-m43rds Sat, 06 Sep 2014 08:51:17 +0000 Treetah 11212@/talks/discussions Hey guys. Had a question about lenses for my GH2 (hopefully soon to be GH4).

I'm looking for some parafocal zooms. Here's some criteria:

  • native or adaptable to m4/3rds
  • manual iris or adapter that includes iris control
  • hard stop focusing preferred
  • breathing I don't mind but nothing outrageous
  • no too-slow apertures like f8 or f16
  • need a few choices for cinema-purpose films
  • also some choices for live event/lecture shooting
  • zoom controls huge plus! (I plan on using my rigs FF)
  • under $5k
  • broader focal length range preferred

I've had my eye on the Nikor 50-300 f4.5 for example.

Thanks for the input!

Sigma DP1x, DP2 and DP3 topic http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/6449/sigma-dp1x-dp2-and-dp3-topic Wed, 20 Mar 2013 11:53:08 +0000 stoney 6449@/talks/discussions Last year Amazon was selling it at $250, and I gladly got one.

Latest firmware has Capture Priority Mode feature that processes images when the buffer is full. At max resolution, 3 photos fills up the buffer which kicks in processing that would take about 10~20 seconds. Yeap be patient like slow cooking.

Dynamic range kinda sucks. SOOC JPEG quality sucks. High ISO performance really sucks. Some claim that its native ISO is only 100, and all other ISO settings are artificially simulated from in-camera post-processing. That explains why ISO 100 looks better than ISO 50. Yes there is noise at ISO 200. Haha gotta love this crazy Foveon!!! Of course there is no face detection. CDAF but manually select only one of 9 point focusing points. What a PITA piece of crap. But I've grown to like it. Foveon sensor is known to give very accurate color information, and it's just amazing how well it captures accurate color in shadow, on water reflection, in bright sun, or whatever crazy condition. Yes I use only ISO 100.

LR4 supports RAW, but Sigma's SPP app is much better at processing RAW. SPP can raise the brightness and boost color very well and simulate standard/vivid/scenary/monochrome/original/etc picture mode. But that's where its usefulness ends. Export to Tiff format then let LR4 import it.

SPP 5.5 has a pretty cool feature. Monochrome option from white balance selection strips out color information and uses only luminance values to produce "pure" B&W photo. FYI CMOS sensor has bayer filter on top of it, applies demosaicing algorithms to interpolate a set of complete red, green, and blue values for each point, then B&W photo can be generated from the guesstimated color information. That is a guesstimate from a guesstimate. Since Foveon sensor has three vertically stacked photodiodes for red/blue/green that collect 3 different luma information for each point, this new feature gives excellent B&W by controlling three different luma value separately without getting color noise. Some call it a poorman's Leica M-Monochrom :)

Example http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/post/51037744

But it supports only SD1 and DP1/2/3 Merrill series. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for expanding SPP's Monochrome support for all other DP series.

About video performance, it sucks.
