The global optics brand, Samyang Optics (http://www.samyanglensglobal.com) today announced the long-awaited launch of two autofocus lenses: 14mm F2.8 and 50mm F1.4 lenses for Sony E mount Mirrorless cameras with full frame sensor size. The new 14mm and 50mm are the widest and brightest lenses in their classand offer superb quality images to photographers. This launching expands the boundaries of Samyang Optics photo lens line-up from manual focus only, to now include autofocus lenses.

Optimised Optical Design as Full Frame Mirrorless Camera Lens

Both 14mm F2.8 ED AS IF UMC and 50mm F1.4 AS IF UMC are specifically designed to work in harmony with full frame mirrorless cameras in Sony E mount. The flow of light is devised based on the uniqueness of the distance from glass to sensor in mirrorless cameras to create optimal performance. Along with portability of mirrorless lenses, the 14mm F2.8 and 50mm F1.4 are compatible with full frame sensors to deliver the wideness and sharpnessof image to photographers.

The 67mm filter diameter brings the maximum amount of light into the lens to create the best work of light in photography. The 14mm F2.8 is the widest angle available in the market and the F1.4 of 50mm and F2.8 of 14mm apertures are by far the brightest of full frame mirrorless lenses, offeringa beautiful bokeh effect and the best quality images under various exposure conditions.

Based on Samyang Optics’ exceptional optical technology, aspherical lenses have been included in both lenses to minimise aberration and unnecessary light dispersion, delivering high resolution from the centre to the corners of the image.

AF Performance and Ergonomic Design Based on Class-Leading Technology

These new products will be the first autofocus lenses in over 40 years of Samyang’s class-leading core optics technologies. Samyang has captured the essence of world leading image technology with their manual focus lenses and reinterpreted it into autofocus lenses. Photographers now can enjoy the prime manual lens image quality and autofocus lens. These new 14mm F2.8 and 50mm F1.4 are compatible with both phase detect and contrast detect sensors to operate fast and accurate focus detection.

The 67mm filter diameter is also the result of years of R&D for best handling, by adding stability to the photo-taking experience. Also the minimal and sleek design and metal-housing solidify the build quality with the internal focus system.

These two new autofocus lenses from Samyang Optics will be exhibited at the Photo & Imaging 2016 Show in Seoul, South Korea. The lenses will be globally available from July 2016. Further details, pricing and availability will follow.

Samyang Optics company is thrilled to invite all participants of Photokina fairs held in Cologne to visit our stand no. A025 located in the hall 2.1. We will introduce a prototypical version of the Samyang 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS UMC CS lens.

Samyang 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS UMC CS is a prototype of the ultra wide-angle prime lens designed for use with cameras fitted with APS-C/DX sensors. Its extremely short focus length and rectilinear imaging system ensure extra wide angle of view amounting to 110 degrees (~107 degree for Canon version). As a result the lens is a comprehensive tool for architecture and landscape shooting. New Samyang 10mm 1:2.8 ED AS UMC CS is similar to the 35mm system lens with 15mm or 16mm focal length in the case of Canon APS-C cameras.

All details concerning the optical construction of the lens and available mounts will be published at a later date. The lens will be introduced for sale either at the end of 2012 or in the first days of 2013.

>Optics of the lens has been constructed based on the system of 13 lenses arranged in 12 groups. It should be noted that 4 lenses has been made of the low-dispersion glass (ED), while two another are aspheric lenses. We have also employed multi-layered and anti-reflexive coatings of UMC type adding to the perfect light transmission. Samyang 24 mm F1.4 ED AS UMC has been designed to work with most popular reflex cameras produced by renown manufacturers and equipped with small-image sensors or smaller. The lens will be available with a mount for the following systems: Canon, Four Thirds, Nikon AE, Pentax, Samsung NX and Sony Alpha.

>24mm focus is tailor-made for most of the sensors available on the market today. In the case of full-frame cameras, it constitutes a high-quality wide-angle lens perfect for street, landscape and architecture shooting. Whereas photographers using DX sensors will get just perfect lens for the purposes of calmer journalist and landscape photography. The lens attached to Four Thirds cameras will create a universal and bright construction corresponding to the 50mm focus.

>The lens should be available for sale by the end of the year or at the beginning of 2012. The exact price will be announced at a later date. Soon, we will be able to present sample photos taken with this sophisticated device.

Which CCTV lens for wide angle fisheye use ? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/7609/which-cctv-lens-for-wide-angle-fisheye-use- Fri, 26 Jul 2013 05:31:26 +0000 TruHype 7609@/talks/discussions Hello everyone,

I've recently started to get interested in C mount (CCTV) lens, for they are fast, wide, and cheap. So I wondered, is there any CCTV lens that I could use as a Fisheye (and get the same effect as the Panasonic 8mm f3.5, but faster) ? Here's a few lens I've found looking on the internet :

  • Rainbow 3.5mm 1.6

  • Tamron 4-12mm 1.2

  • Pentax 6mm 1.2 (+ wide conversion lens x0.45)

Wanted effect :

The GH2 exact m4/3 sensor crop is x1.86.

So I would like to get the same widness as the Panasonic 8mm or any 8mm Fisheye (Samyang, Peleng, Rokinon...) :

Panasonic 8mm : 8 x 1.86 = 14.88mm equivalent (no need for ETC mode)

Rainbow 3.5mm : 3.5 x 1.86 = 6.51 -> 6.51 x 2 = 13mm equivalent

Pentax 6mm : 6 x 1.86 = 11.16 -> 11.6 x 2 = 23.2mm equivalent -> 23.2 x 0.45 = 10.44mm equivalent

x 1.86 : GH2 Sensor Crop

x 2 : ETC tele conversion mode crop (to cover vignetting)

x 0.45 : Wide convversion lens

Does that mean we could use any CCTV c mount lens instead of the Panasonic lens to get the wide fisheye effect ?

A few videos :

Lenses :

C mount lens (1/2") work well on the GH2, but I heard that the CS mount lens (1/3") would still have really heavy vignetting because even with the ETC mode it would not cover entirely the GH2 sensor. Is that true ?

Interesting CS mount lens, but 1/3 inch : http://www.ebay.fr/itm/TAMRON-Manual-Iris-CCTV-Lens-3-0-8mm-1-1-0-ASPHERICAL-C-Mount-3-Mega-Pixel-/261248954560?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3cd3a6b0c0

I would use the fisheye to film Skateboarding.

Thank you.

Rokinon 35 mm T1.5 cine lenses question http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/14351/rokinon-35-mm-t1.5-cine-lenses-question Sat, 02 Jan 2016 08:09:39 +0000 Alexauwa 14351@/talks/discussions I've read and watched a lot of good reviews about rokinon cine lenses. What about samyang lenses? If I am not mistaking it is one and the same manufactur. But what about user experience?

How does this lense perform at 1.5? Is it soft?

Special in combination with metabone canon EF to MFT XL adapter? Or straight mft on the gh4.

Also how does these lenses get along with gears and follow focus systems?

Since I live in Germany, can anyone one provide dealers to get rokinon cine lenses?

Feedback would be much appreciated?

Samyang 8mm 1:2.8 UMC Fish-eye is currently the smallest and the brightest Fish-eye lens compatible with compact cameras featuring APS-C sensor. It perfectly combines high optical value, impressive lens speed and exceptionally compact sizes.

Its sophisticated optical construction relies on the system of 10 lenses arranged in 8 groups. They include, among others, one aspherical (AS) lens and two lenses made of extra low dispersion glass (ED). This provides perfect sharpness for the entire field of view and maximum aperture of f/2.8. Obviously all surfaces of the lenses were covered with multi-layered UMC anti-reflective coatings adding to the high contrast and splendid light transmission.

Samyang 8mm 1:2.8 UMC Fish-eye will be marketed with Sony E (NEX) and Samsung NX mount. In both cases its maximum angle of view will amount to 180 degree, with the minimum focusing distance of 0.3 meters.

Release date and the expected price will be separately announced on a later date

[FS] Samyang geared lens set, 14, 35 and 85mm, EF mount (EU) http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13250/fs-samyang-geared-lens-set-14-35-and-85mm-ef-mount-eu Sun, 21 Jun 2015 04:31:43 +0000 Adam_Mercier 13250@/talks/discussions I am letting go my Samyang set..

I "need" to get some EF zooms, because I found out I do more doc style work and photos lately. 35 and 85 were protected by UV filters all along. No scratches or cleaning marks. The 14mm has slightly loose iris ring but nothing to be too concerned about. Asking 900€ for the set. Located in Lyon, France set

I also have a Tokina Atx-pro 80-200 F2.8 Nikon mount for sale, 350€ or 380€ with adapter.

Willing to trade for : Canon 17-40 F4L , Sigma 18-35 F1.8, Canon 70-200F4L

GH4 - Best Fisheye (ultra-wide) Lens for Cine? http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/13108/gh4-best-fisheye-ultra-wide-lens-for-cine Wed, 03 Jun 2015 10:35:00 +0000 thebmillz 13108@/talks/discussions Hello!

I'm trying to find something that could translate to 14mm (in 35mm land) without overly fish-eyeing. It seems like a lot of people have shot in 4K and used "De-fishing" software to get it looking nice in 1080p.

Found a bunch of 7.5 lenses. As far as I can tell these are as wide as the format can go. But, there are so many. And the Rokinon and Bower look kind of the same. I also noticed Rokinon and Samyang label their last two as "cine".

Any opinions on these lenses?

Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 Ultra Wide-Angle Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 (Black)

Bower 7.5mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 Cameras (Black)

Rokinon 7.5mm f/3.5 Ultra Wide-Angle Fisheye Lens for Micro 4/3 (Silver)

Rokinon 7.5mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fisheye Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount

Samyang 7.5mm T3.8 Cine UMC Fisheye Lens for Micro Four Thirds Mount

Samyang 10mm F2.8 EF Mount+ Speedbooster or SLR MAGIC 12mm T1.6mm mft http://www.personal-view.com/talks/discussion/12981/samyang-10mm-f2.8-ef-mount-speedbooster-or-slr-magic-12mm-t1.6mm-mft Wed, 13 May 2015 02:27:32 +0000 club_irate 12981@/talks/discussions I have a GH2 and will be getting a GH4 soon. I have the SLR Magic 12mm lens with me which is a 24mm equiv on the GH2 and will be 28mm on the GH4 in 4K mode. The samyang with the SB will be wider (14mm on the GH2 with SB & 16mm on the GH4 in 4K mode and will be a F2).

Which out of the 2 is the better lens? I have the option of selling the SLR Magic to a film maker i know and the Samyang costs roundabout the same as what i am selling the 12mm for.

Kindly advice.

P.S- I have been recommended to go for the Samyang compared to a Tokina 11-16mm (EF) as they said It's sharper and has better CA control. Views on this.
